My wifi antenna is broken!

When I first got my iphone 4S it was a year old handme down from my sibling and it was still under apple care. I was having problems with it's signal reception so I went into the apple store and got it replaced.

about a month after I got the replacement phone, the wifi's switch was greyed out and I tried everything i could find to fix it but nothing worked. So I brought it back into the apple store about a month later and they told me that my wifi antenna was broken and the only thing I could do was buy a new iphone for some $200 or upgrade to an iPhone 5S for $300 since I'm no longer under apple care.

Does anyone know what to do at this point? I don't have the money to buy yet another replacement and frankly I'm pretty angry that my first replacement was a faulty.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4

Hi Alex,

It's doubtful (not impossible) that you got two devices that BOTH had mechanical issues with the wi/fi.

That being said I would like for you to consider when setting the second device up did you set it up with the same backup that had been used with the first phone?

If you happened to restore your device from the earlier phone that would explain the similar issues you are now getting from a totally different device.

I would consider restoring the device back to default setting without restoring the backup that came with the old (defective) phone.

Good luck Friend.

My apologies, I misread your first post.

With that in mind I would go directly to your settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

After doing this you may have your wi/fi back. If your device is able to then find your wifi signal it will then ask you to plug in the password for your wi/fi.

If you are still having the issue after resetting your network settings I would then go to the wi/fi router and cut the power to the device and plug it back in. If this does not correct the issue I would then recommend you check the sim card (if you are using one) removing it from the device and re seating the sim card.

Good luck Friend.
