To verify account all bank and card details, verification codes, passwords etc are reqired. Is this a true reqest?

I am concerned, I got the email from Apple saying I had to verify my account, which I did, entering all my relevant details. HOWEVER when I had finished I got a red box saying that it was not a safe website. Should I be worried?
You should be, the email is not from Apple (they don't ask you to verify accounts). If you filled in your id and password then change your password immediately by logging into it via http://appleid.apple.com (What to do after you change your Apple ID email address or password - Apple Support) - and if you filled in credit card details get the card cancelled and replaced.
"Email notice to you that your Apple ID has been temporarily restricted until we can verify your Apple Account details. This is a precautionary measure to safeguard your iCloud Account from unauthorized use." Is this genuine?
