battery drain on 7.0.6

Since I upgraded to 7.0.6 my battery drains at an alarming rate. Since 8:00 this morning I have made one call and checked email - the battery is now 51% after 2 hours! This was fine before the update.

I have cloased all apps - still have exactly the same issue. Phone gets hot now when screen is on suggestiig the processor is doing a lot of work.

Is it possible to downgrade back to 7.0.4 (I was on 7.0.4 before the update)?

I've been having this problem since 7.0.6 too. Prior 7.0.x versions did not exhibit the issue. I have a 4s.

Problem happens while phone sits idle with no apps open. I rarely ever use my phone, and an entire day could go by with it off the charger, and I'd only lose up to maybe 10% battery at most. Now I'm losing 25-50% of the battery in a single day with it off of the charger.

I'm curious if folks with older iPhones are the only ones experiencing the issue. Sounds like this could be planned obselecence through critical software updates as usual. Next phone is most certainly going to be Android.

Since update battery drains at a rapid rate, phone crashes to. I have to do a hard reset. Went to Apple store they won't admit to a problem. They say I'm the only one who has had this issue. They gave me a new phone which also has update and it crashed too and battery drained. Gone to Apple store 3 times and called support all still denying a problem. They just gave me a new phone again however this one has not updated so it's using the 7.0.4 and now it seems to be fine. 2 replacements later and the only thing that helped was using the older software

I've been to the Apple Store yesterday and they checked my iPhone 5. They say that the device itself is fine which I think is true, because it worked fine before with iOS 7.0.4.

They restored my iPhone with Recovery Mode enabled. Tonight I put my iPhone 5 on flight mode after I have charged it to 100%. Now after 9 hours of flight mode the battery is down to 20% again. So the problem is still there and a restore with recovery mode does not help either.

So if the hardware itself is fine, then all thats left is the software which is the problem. But here I'm stuck with iOS 7.0.6 because a downgrade to iOS 7.0.4 does not work. 😠

FWIW on Friday I did a update of all apps in the App Store. Yet another kill all app [double click home button and flip all apps up] then yet another hard reset [first press home, then press top power button for 10 sec. It will immediatly go dark, no apple logo after 10 sec indicating hard reset] Then press again to boot up.

Power is normal all weekend.

I shudder to think of all the possibly useful features I turned OFF to solve this. Now I have a "smartish" phone instead of a smart phone. LOL

I'm pulling out of this discussion for now because the problem was solved (for me) by replacing my iPhone 4S with a new iPhone 5S. (The replacement was planned for, it was not a direct response to my battery difficulties).

That being said, I want to state clearly for the record that I tried all of the following to solve my battery drain issue. None of these things worked for me.

1) Force quit all apps and perform hard reset.

2) Wipe phone and restore from backup.

2a) Force quit all apps and perform hard reset.

3) Wipe phone and rebuild from scratch using only minimal, mission critical, apps; Kill the cruft!

3a) Force quit all apps and perform hard reset.

For all of the above, no joy. I do suspect that my particular issues were complicated by a failing (aging) battery in my 4S. Prior to the extreme drain issue it was a battery that would go from 30% to dead in an incredibly short time. This is often a sign of a battery due for replacement and I would have done so if my scheduled upgrade wasn't so fast approaching.

FWIW, my 5S was restored using the "step 2" (from above) iCloud backup —aka, the "crufty" backup that has tons of apps, app data, etc. Its working just fine with no sign of rapid battery drain.

I realize my findings do nothing to help solve the problem and I hope those afflicted find a solution soon.

We (my wife and I) are having the same battery problem since iOS7.06 on our iPhone 4S - 16GB.

The stand-by time and usage time indicate the same time. In the past we were able to use our phones without charging between 07AM and 10PM (iOS7.04) but since 7.06 we need to charge our phones around 5/6PM.

We already tried quite a few things:

- press home + power button for about 10 seconds and wait till apple logo comes up

- turned off/on phone

- removed sim

- flightmode on/off

- bluetooth off

- only use WIFI home, work, at family, friends (so no 3G)

- removed e-mail accounts and connected them again (e.g. Gmail account)

- to reduce the battery drain for a but we already changed these things or added these:

* fetch e-mail per hour (2 accounts) - no changes there (was already the case on iOS7.04)

* no dynamic wallpaper - no changes there (was already the case on iOS7.04)

* iCloud > 'Find my iPhone' is turned off, only contacts and agenda are on

* Privacy > Locations' > only a limited amout of apps is turned on which we rarely use during weekdays: Google Maps, Kaarten, Weer

System: only compas calibration is on. - no changes there (was already the case on iOS7.04)

* Reduce motion: off

* Refresh apps in background: completely off - no changes there (was already the case on iOS7.04)

* Siri > off - no changes there (was already the case on iOS7.04)

* Message center > only on for (phone, messages, agenda, facetime and whatsapp) with badges, sounds or bars

* Settings > 'General' > 'Set again' > 'recover all settings' done but doesn't make any difference

I hope iOS7.1 will be the cure for our phones again to have no more battery issues (drain) anymore.
