It won't let me get adobe or flash.

I have an old MacBook and because of that it has a lot of problems with adobe and java. How do I get it fixed? I tryed twice, but it didn't work out. And it's killing me that i can't use so many programs and websites.

Please, someone must be out there that will know what exactly i need to do.
