New Mac Pro, Creating EyeFinity display groups in Bootcamp.

I've seen it done on a youtube video with 6 screens on crysis,

Shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmlsePKH6AY

Yet I can't seem to find any setting in the FirePro Control center, that allows me to create a display group.

Crossfire is enabled and works fine, but seemingly on one screen. I'm not even sure if that's working as I have little experience with AMD AGPs... when I would "Enable SLi for maximum performance" on Nvidia cards, it would disable my other displays, and only show one SLid display... or I could span the displays, with Sli and show one big 3 screen display.

On this setup, when I turn crossfire on, it doesnt seem to change anything, all 3 screens remain on... I'm hoping it's smart enough to pump all the power to the active games display, but I can't really tell.

But that's only a single display, if, I want to play WoW on a spanned display across 3 monitors like I did with my old nVidia setup...

The whole "Eyefinity" section of the Control Center seems not to exist.

I'm wondering, do I need to install Catalyst instead of FirePro control center?

Will that mess up my drivers?

This guy doesn't really get into how he did it.

Any thoughts Mac'les?

Hmm updated to the latest catalyst which seems to work fine, but still no eyefinity settings.

I would bet this has more to do with my monitor setup... all 3 are DVI, one with an active DVI to a Display Port adapter, the other 2 with a passive....

I'm probably pushing my luck.

Guess I better start saving up for thunderbolt displays

in same boat here and wondering how to get the Eyefinity-Option enabled with the nMP running Windows 8.1 under Bootcamp?

with my old Mac Pro it worked flawless for many years now!

I tried to plug-in my 3 displays (each to a different Bus) with an active Mini-Display adapter (AMD approved) and basically the AMD driver is not recognizing the displays as supported hardware.

- has it to do that you cannot use adapter to connect DVI displays?

- could anybody test for use when using multiple TB-displays if the Eyefinity option is available in the AMD-driver?

- or is it the Bootcamp driver that needs fixing so that connected displays are recognized as supported hardware?

nope ... and I don't see hope for the near future to get this solved!

we're to few with this problem that someone would take a look into this ... I am afraid : (

and it would need either AMD and/or Bootcamp to get this fixed because our D700 graphics card doesn't exist in the windows-world and therefore it would need a special driver to get the displays recognized to use Eyefinity (TB or DVI).

till then I have to hold on to my old Mac Pro I am afraid ...

Well i upgraded my DVI monitors to Display Port, and still no options for EyeFinity multi display.

Obviously it's possible because it's been done.

I tried to reach out to that guy but no response via comments or emails.

You guys should try to bug him too and see if you can get him to let us know what drivers and monitor types he's using.

He's using 3 x Thunderbolt Apple Displays and 3 x DVI Dell's.

Have you tried 1 x DVI and 2 x Display Port?

Also try the cables connected in this sequence. Looking at the bank of 6 Thunderbolt ports on the Mac Pro so there facing you...

1 x DVI > TB in top left socket

1 x DP > DP in bottom left socket

1 x DP > DP in top right socket

See this article about port configuaration - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6068

From what i'm discusiing with an engineer friend this sounds like a clock signal issue. Eyefinity needs a particular clock from the computer to sync the displays which can only be got from the DVI/VGA/HDMI port.

The option i'm going to try is exchanging 1 of my DP > DP cables for an 'active' DVI > DP converter so then 1 of my monitors would be connected via Dual-Link DVI using DP++.

Here's the adapter I ordered :-

BTW, This FAQ was taken from the AMD site directly :-

Q: What if the DVI monitor I want to connect to DisplayPort uses a resolution higher than 1920x1200?

A: An active dual-link DVI to DisplayPort adapter is required.

I'll let you know tommrow what happens.

Thanks,

Anthony
