Yes I believe I posted this about Jam pack 2 remix above.

Some of the Drum kits in Jam Pack 2 Remix Tools have some sounds within >those parameters, like vinyl noise, or wiki wiki, and other sounds of the >Genre.

Big Beat Remix has vinyl noise at C6
Classic Hip Hop Remix has some scratchin and beat box sounds all around >C6 Classic House Remix house wiki scratchin and stuff a few keys up from C5
You have to play around in various the drum sets from that Jam Pack to find >them. Those drum sets in JP2 are a lot of fun.

I appreciate the AU wrapper link HT, but I DL'd an AU version.

And it loads fine. The problem I am having is that this "effect" is a MIDI generator (and uses a software instrument track) that uses an audio clip (of your choosing) and needs to be recorded on a real instrument track...if that makes sense...

I can play around with it and know what it would sound like if I could record it, but as I typed above, I don't think I can get it to work internally in GB. I'll probably have to use something like Audio Hijack or the like. Blah.

Very promising if i could get it to work though...

Open a software instrument track and get out your 49e.

Then from the generator pull down select Turntablist. Click the pencil to open the turntablist AU window.

To the right of the Name Turntablist Click on the "Open File" button.

From here load an AIFF or a WAV file. It will not load mp3. Best to choose a vocal file at first to get the feel how the controls change things

Once you load a file the Turntablist AU window goes completely blank white (at least with my version it does). Close the window and open it again with the pencil. It should be fine

Now you have loaded a file and your ready to scratch. Click the ? for help files. read it, its short.

Click the "Power" button and Play a key on your MIDI and you will hear the sample play. While your sample is playing move the pitch blend wheel to scratch your sample.

After reading the Help manual that comes up after clicking it I have found Turntablist to be much more than I first realized it was.

If you play with the adjustments for a while you can get EXCELLENT scratching results. From Scrubing to spinning. You can get reverse scratching and you can get coninuous play during a scratch or stop the sample and scratch it back and forth and then release like a turntable.

If you play with the spin, pitch and speed knobs you can get the sample to start up from a dead stop and get up to speed with whatever variance you like.

There is a reset button to reset your parameters.

One reason I never did much with this AU before was I never thought to use my MIDI keyboard with it. I was always trying to control it with the mouse. Now I have found it to be excellent for scratching. All you need is a little patience and practice

Just click record on your GB controls and you can record your scrathin!

Anyone who experiments with Turtablist after reading this post please post back with your thoughts and experiences.

I would like to apologize up front, WA. i doubted that your instructions would work.

I bow before you begging your forgiveness as you have offered me knowledge that has opened up a gold mine of possibilities to create with!!!

I just tried to record a little sample of what Turntabilist is capable of and was BLOWN AWAY!!!! I used a little digital video game sound (from Super Mario 2 I believe-don't worry, I'm not going to record with it...just a trial) and am just shocked and awed at what tinkering with it for a couple of minutes has produced.....

Another nice side feature of Turntablist is the directional control.

Once you have loaded your file you can play it in reverse and record it right inside of Garageband. No need to go out of the application now for reverse effects.

Too bad destroyfx.smartelectronix couldn't work on Turntablist and update it a little bit more. Larger fonts for the controls would be nice!

If you are double clicking on it because you think it is an application, then you are mistaken. It's actually an AU plug in that GB utilizes.

Make sure the little "lego-looking" icon for Turntablist is in the HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. Then open GB and create a software instrument track. Then go to the generator drop down menu and select Turntablist there. Then hit the "pencil" button next to it to access the user interface of Turntablist.

xs4is,

Its turning out to be a real sleeper!!!!

I'm currently working on learning this parameter. As quoted from the online manual.

"MIDI Learn
switches MIDI Learn mode on or off
When MIDI Learn is on, you can click on a parameter control to enable that parameter as the "learner." Then the next MIDI CC message that is received will be mapped to that parameter. From then on, you can control that parameter with MIDI CC messages of that type.
These MIDI CC → parameter assignments are saved with the plugin's settings."

This seems like it can be a really powerful feature but I think one needs to learn all the other controls first inside and out before this one really becomes usefull.
