My iPhone 5S just got bricked after the recent update.

I just recently did the 7.0.6 update and now my iPhone won't turn on. Apparently it's been bricked and now it is going to take over 2 hours to restore my phone through iTunes. I am so upset right now. I am thinking about switching phones and going to an Android. I have an iPad 2 that I won't update now since this happened. I even have an Apple TV and Macbook Air 13. I am a loyal Apple customer and this feels like a slap in the face!

So I have unsuccessfully tried 3 times to restore my phone via iTunes and it keeps failing. Now I am really upset. This is absolutely rediculous! This shouldn't have happened in the first place. The first update went through about 15 minutes and failed. The second, about 39 minutes. The 3rd, over and hour and a half. Anyone out there have a fix?

Yes. There is a fix. This is why I'm unwilling to update. I'm sorry you had to deal with this.

Actually, if you read the thread, you'd realize that the source describes exactly what the author stated. Maybe you decided to learn how to read, you would be able to figure that you're the one spewing out trash.

It continues to tell me that I am having a network error. That's it. I have checked all settings to the network and there is nothing wrong with it. I have actually been streaming my Apple TV through our network and have had no interruptions.

BTW, thanks for the link, Grin. I tried the hard reset and it still didn't work.

Assuming you're using a PC, temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall software. It can interfere with the update/restore process.

I am usng a Macbook Air. I am fairly new to this Macbook. Came from using PC's so I am unfamiliar with where to do that. Call me a newbie!

I am in the process of trying again so it is in the middle of the update. I guess I am a sucker for punishment. I will post the exact error when I get it again. I am sure I will.

BTW, thank you for the help. It is very helpful that someone knowledgeable is willing to help.

You're losing the connection to the update server. You may want to try it from a different network if that's possible. Other things to try would be resetting your router and using a wired Ethernet connection instead of wifi.

Well, it looks like I'm screwed. I reset the router and it didn't help. Macbook Airs don't have an Ethernet port. Still failing. Guess I have to go to the Apple Store.
