New Update 11.1.5

Apple has just released update 11.1.5, has anyone experienced any difficulties with this update, as we did with 11.1.4

Just an update on this. I did a full uninstall of 11.1.5.5 as per the Apple site ie including all the extras in the designated order. plus a reboot. I then did a clean install of 11.1.5.5.

The Windows 8.1 system saw an Apple Mobile Ethernet device and an Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.

It did not actually list the iPhone name. Explorer did not list the device.

SO, I went through the uninstall process again and this time installed the previous iTunes. Everything worked OK.

I just updated from a working 11.1.4 to 11.1.5 on Windows 8 and it totally broke iTunes. :-( I have tried a repain re-installation (which said it succeeded) and that had ne effect. iTunes cannot even load now (it makes a wied 'invisible window and can't even be killed in Task manager). If i try to stop it in Task manager nothing happens, if i kill all itunes and ipod helper task it keeps trying to do something and randomly pops up a message about a locked library file (which isn't locked) nd in fact the only way I can stop it is to restart the computer.

I am now in a very bad mood and note that the last 2 or 3 iTunes update broke stuff, were a pain to fix, and as far as I can tell added nothing new.

I am starting to dislike iTunes almost as much as I hate Windows 8

Yes:

I upgraded to iTunes 11.1.5 and, suddenly things are going badly wrong.

I'm trying to watch films and, after a few minutes the screen goes

grey. The sound continues, but there is no video.

The problem exists with these films (at least):

Frances Ha - rented

Cave Digger - film not rented

The Dark Rider - Midsomer Murders series 14

So it seems to affect films, TV programmes and rented films equally.

The films run for about 10 minutes before going grey - once they do,

though, that's it.

I've tried:

- Rebooting the machine

- De-Authorising from iTunes and re-authorising

- Playing from QuickPlayer (exactly the same symptoms)

I've written to the iTunes shop, but it's Saturday, so I'm not sure if I'll get any response.

Any suggestions?

the installer (for about one second) installs Apple App Support, then the installer freezes on STATUS.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.

Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.

Does it install properly for you?

If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
