10.9.2 update sleep issue with NEC monitors confirmed

After updating from Mac OS10.9.1 to 10.9.2, both my friend, who lives in another city, and I find that attempting to put our MacPros (2010, think his is a 2009 model) attached to a NEC PA 301 (mine) or PA 271 (his) series pro monitors to sleep experience a frozen screen and cursor followed about a minute later with an expected and desired sleep mode. My computer does something slightly different than his in that the background of the dock turns a golden yellow when the screen freezes. Both systems start up from sleep correctly.

If I only use my Apple 30 inch Cinema Display, the sleep mode works as expected.

Spent two hours with Apple Care (level one and level two) people that didn't have a clue what was going on. Called NEC and they had no explaination.

Any thoughts of wisdom of what is going on with the sleep issue that occurred right after we put the 10.9.2 update?

Ugh, I just updated to 10.9.3 and this is still broken!!!!! This blows.

Cannot confirm that bad message so far - just set system preferences to start screen saver after 5 min and sleep monitor after 15 min - after 20 minutes I found both of my monitors (NEC PA302W and LaCie Photon18blue) sleeping - moving the mouse brought them back to life normally!

Next thing I'm gonna try is to find out if waiting substancially longer (before moving the mouse) will freeze the graphics system - like it was before under 10.9.2!

Try resetting your monitor to factory defaults. I had to do this with 10.9.3.

10.9.3 seems to have resolved my issue. Thanks for hanging in there everyone about this issue.

FWIW: I have a PA241W and have not had these issues. However, my monitor is attached using DVI to a KVM. Is this a Display Port issue?

I am using the display port. I was told by NEC it was the best way to see all the image information.

I second LynnSD's comment. I have a PA271w that was not only having an issue with the Monitor turning off connected to teh Display port on a new MacPro, Late 2013, but the Screen Saver would not work correctly either. The SS would go through the images once and then freeze. I just installed 10.9.3 and my initial sense is that these issues are resolved.

at first it seemed issues were solved....but my "snow" on the monitor and need to turn on/off many times is still there...😠

I have Mac Pro 2014, OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) and NEC PA 271W.

The problem STILL EXISTS while I didn't notice it at all before updating to the newest version of OS.X

Apple, pls FIX IT !!!!! That Mac Pro costed me a lot of money...
