I can't "close" a book to access to my bookshelf or my library. Must I uninstall Overdrive and loose everything?

I downloaded an ebook that a friend sent using my Overdrive app. Once the book was downloaded it opened fine

But now I can't "close" the book so that I can access my bookshelf or library. Please HELP !

iPad, iOS 7.0.3, I don't know the operating system

If it is in iBooks you tap the top of the book and library should appear in the upper left corner of the book. Tap library to return the book to the shelves. Tap the home button to close iBooks.
