I has the same problems with a brand new iMac from 2013 who I have for around two weeks now. But I transferred all files with the migration assistant and with this some old extensions.
For me it was iDisplay from shape, who destroy the AirPlay Mirroring and not AirParrot. Sadly they deliver not a good manual to remove all files around iDisplay, only give the tip to download the installer and uninstall iDisplay. But don't work for me. There is also a script, placed inside the installer. Didn't work to for me.
Well... I found a tip on a external (german) page, how you can successfully let run the uninstaller script (http://hansruedi-vetsch.blogspot.de/2012/08/uninstall-idisplay-with-mac-mountain .html)
- Right click on "Uninstall" in the iDisplay Desktop 2.1.39 for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.7 Lion (dmg, 1.44Mb).
- Click on "Show Package Contents"
- Enter Contents
- Enter Resources
- Enter Scripts
- Double click main.scpt (this should open the AppleScript-Editor)
- Press the Run button (it's the 3rd in the toolbar)
- Press OK
- Wait till you see the dialog saying succeeded
- Close AppleScript-Editor
- Restart the Mac
This works for me and solve my problem after the restart.
If for some reasons shape not longer deliver any installer / uninstaller, you can do it via terminal or follow the path's.
sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/MSM*
sudo rm -R /Applications/iDisplay.app
