For audio without HDMI you'll need to use the optical audio output on the Apple TV 2 (ATV2). If your TV or stereo receiver doesn't have an optical INPUT you'll have to get a D-to-A converter box that accepts an optical input and outputs a stereo RCA audio signal (you can find such adapters on the internet, they may run around $30 U.S.). For your TV, make certain that it is an optical INPUT, many TVs only come with optical outputs.

In any case, you also need to be aware that the ATV2 is designed to work over HDMI and even though it may function using an HDMI-to-DVI adapter there is no absolute guarantee that it will work without issues.
