Hey Taracat,

Give this a shot;

Reset Safari

1. Open Safari, press Safari on the menu bar and click Reset Safari.

2. Uncheck all the options except, Remove All Website Data and Close All Safari Windows.

3. Press Reset.

This will clear the Safari cache, and may help.

The App Store and iTunes apps both use safari to load web content, and i've found this will do the trick sometimes. If that doesnt work try this as well.

Safe Boot:

1. Turn your computer off.

2. While you turn the computer back on, immediately hold the Shift key until you see an Apple logo with the loading bar underneath.

3. It will load your login page with your user, log in from here.

4. Test the issue, and reboot.

This will clear your system cache, and may work for you as well. If all else fails, try this.

Pull the App Store plist

1. Open Finder and select Go on the menu bar.

2. Hold the Option key and select Library.

3. Go to the Preferences folder that you see in there, and navigate to the com.apple.appstore.plist file and com.apple.appstore.plist.lockfile and drag them both to the desktop.

4. Reboot and test the issue again.

Hope this helps, keep me updated!

Now I need to get iPhoto to work in Mavericks.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:

  • what version of iPhoto are you using?
  • what system version are you running?
  • what version of iPhoto were you running before upgrading to Mavericks?
  • what do you see when iPhoto opens?
  • what fixes have you tried?
  • where is your library located?
  • did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
  • are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?

User uploaded file

  • what type of Mac?
  • how much free space on your boot drive?

If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:

1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:

  • open the Terminal application.

  • copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:

defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true

followed by Enter.

  • launch App Store, login.

2 - select the Debug âž™ Reset Application option:

User uploaded file

3 - try again.

Another approach would be to log in to another user account on your Mac and try from there.

Wanted to try this approach as my App Store simply doesn't open at all. However, when trying the very first step, I realised that Safari refuses to open as well. I am not sure what to do now 😕 I am running MacOS Yosemite, the official release.

Yes, as "nmarvin" said above, "Safe Booting" (Power Down, then hold Shift key upon booting) did correct my Mac App Store Error. My computer (Mid 2014 MBP Retina 13") did freak out a little bit upon sign in, but it simmered down after about 10 seconds. Thanks for your help!
