Using iPad For Public Use?

Hello,

I am looking for a rather specific solution to a rather specific request.

I am working with a library who wish to have 3 tablet devices on display for members of the public to walk in and use. They have no specific preference for device or OS but I want to put the most fit for purpose device/OS forward.

I'm trying to find out if anyone knows of any device management solutions that allow us to, if possible, automate a process of wiping the device? So when one random member of the public puts down the device after looking at X Y and Z on Safari, another random member can pick it up and have a fresh experience?

We have Apple Configurator to hand so that isn't and issue and also currently use a product called AirWatch for our MDM solutions.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this topic for me, and maybe point me in the right direction?

There are a lot of web browsers out in the app store. Look for private browsing. Look for children type stuff.

If you are using AirWatch you might investigate shared device mode, where the device checks back into to a restricted profile. You can set the device to be checked back in automatically after a certain period of time. This might meet your needs. Someone would browse the Internet, the device would check back in to a restricted profile after a certain period of inactivity, then a new user checking out a device would get a clean slate.

We did think about using the device as a "Shared Device" but we thought this would get over complicated, as the library has requested that the users can just pick it up and use it without any hassle. Which in an ideal world would be easy but alas, it is not!

We also thought about using Single App Mode and locking it into the AirWatch Secure Browser, where we could disable things like caching and saving usernames and passwords etc!
