MacBook Pro Retina 2013 battery drained overnight when lid is closed

Hi All,

I seems like that since the upgrade to OSX 10.9.2 my battery is drained overnight even when the lid is closed. I never had that in the past, but the last week i noticed that my battery is drained very quickly even when i am not using my MacBook.

Power Nap is disabled in the system settings.

I have made a log with 'pmset -g log' but am not able to read and understand it... Maybe someone can help me with that...

Please help cause this frustrates me for a week now as i cannot find anything...

So this is what happened:

@22:44:22 i went to bed and closed the lid while on battery power, charged 100%

@14:28:27 the logging tells me that the battery was totally drained...

@17:26:12 (next day) i try to turn it on again but battery was empty 0%

So, did not use the MacBook in the meanwhile...

Oh maybe that could be... Never had that in the past year. But, i can give it a try to disable the Time Machine.

But, is the Time Machine still doing backups when on battery and lid is closed?

Btw... Tonight, i have manually put the MacBook to 'Sleep' via the AppleMenu. No difference. Battery was drained from 100% @23:30 to 61% @06:45.

Anything strange in this log?

Mar 8, 2014 11:42 PM in response to Rob.nl

Last night i tried to disconnect all BlueTooth devices. Maybe one of them kept the MacBook away for some reason. Unfortunately, no success. Still a battery fall from 80% to 26%.

Strange thing is that when i opened the lid, the WiFi was still connected. Previous, that was not the case. Then, when i opened the MacBook, WiFi was going to connect again.

Other strange thing, is that when the lid was closed (or better, when i put the MacBook in sleep mode manual via the Apple-Menu), i heart incomming FaceBook message as i was still logged into Facebook when closing.

Seems like the MacBook is not going to SleepMode at all. Not via the closing of the lid and not via the Apple-Menu.

Mar 9, 2014 12:48 AM in response to ExcelSaveMe

there are few more threads re the issue.

looks like things that might keep computer from going to normal sleep:

- bluetooth

- AddressBook

- timemachine

After doing full backup of the system, and allowing addressbook to sync completely so far has been ok for me.

pmset - g assertion still outputs :

com.apple.iohideventsystem.queue.tickle

but it does not bother from going to sleep normally.
