Apple ID problem with iPad

I have an issue with my Apple ID. All of the apps on my iPad were purchased and or downloaded using an old Apple ID. I'm unable to update my apps because of the different id's. Is there a way to work around this problem? I'd like to have everything under one ID but I don't know how to do this.

Delete them and then download them from the desired Apple ID. This may require repurchasing paid applications.
