iPhone 5c Emoji text issues

I recently bought an iPhone 5c. When I text I can't receive emojis. Mine will send, and the other iPhone user is able to receive them, but when they send emojis they don't come through and give me a bunch of numbers and /'s. I have tried resetting the keyboard dictionary but I don't know how to fix it. Any ideas??

It's also opperating under US Cellular.
