I bought a used iphone from Glyde and cannot activate it is currently linked to another apple ID. How can I activate it as I do not know the original owner

Return it to the seller.

Apple has instituted Activation Lock, described here:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5818

If you cannot contact the original owner, it is very likely you purchased a stolen iPhone, and it will never be able to be used.
