Q: Touch ID is broken after update to iOS 7.1

I just updated to iOS 7.1 on my iPhone 5s and now my Touch ID is not recognizing that I am placing my finger on the sensor on lock screen. Is anyone else experiencing this also? I knew I shouldn't have upgraded so quickly. Thanks.

    Moderators please close this thread. I realized afterwards that the update had turned off the "iPhone Unlock" option in Settings. Once I turned it on, everything is now working perfectly and works faster than before. Thanks!

    It would be useful to leave the thread in place, as other users appear to have the same problem and you have posted a solution.

    the same proplem. touch id after update to 7.1 do not work

    I'm having the same problem. It doesn't even say 'try again' when I use an unrecognised finger.

    I have. The 'iPhone Unlock' was never deselected. However, I have turned it off and on but I still have the same problem.

    Did you try restarting the phone? Hopefully you wouldn't have to restore your phone to factory settings, that would be a last resort. Good luck.

    What happens when you touch down with an enrolled finger? Does it say "Try again"?

     

    Might want to try re-enrolling your finger(s)?

    I have the same problem

    And it won't even let me re enrol

    Keeps saying "failed, sorry the operation was not successful try again later

    I think he meant to go into settings and delete the fingerprints from before the upgrade and then rescan your fingerprints and see if that might help. As always, last resort would be to do a clean restore. Hope you can get it working soon.

    i have the same problem, been restore the phone to 7.1 for the second time, choose start as new, able to add fingerprint, then testing the touch id to unlock the phone= success, later on after install some apps, music, video and photo, touch id not working at all (cannot unlock the phone -- phone unlock on setting is on, cannot add fingerprint cause the touch not responding at all)

    is not like after updating to 7.1 the touch id not working at all, but after installing some apps, it didnt work at all

    update: connect the iphone to computer, voila touch id work again, able to add fingerprint, unlock the phone work again, disconnect the phone from computer, touch id not working at all

    same problem here, after I updated to 7.1 the touchID doesn't work properly anymore, and I realized if I cool down the touchID it do read my fingerprinds, but in room temperature it doesn't even read any fingers or thumbs, that never happened in 7.0.6, please help..

    Also having no success with Touch ID. Tried many different approaches but not reset, yet.

    Cleared the old fingerprints and tried to relearn, but will not recognize the fingers. I tried connecting to computer as one post says, and it started to show the print, but then quit and will not at all now.

    We need a fix fast!!!
