iOS 7.1 Personal Hotspot APN settings won't save on iPhone 4

Hello,

I am facing a problem, which would be great to resolve. Since I updated to iOS 7.1 I can't set APN setttings for Personal Hotspot in my iPhone. If I go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Settings, and I set the APNs(for data+mms) and i go back to save the freshly set APN settings then it saves, but if I touch any fields in the "Personal Hotspot" section (even focusing) and I go back the same way any changed value won't save (e.g. I also change data APN). In the menu "Cellular" there is an option for personal tethering where it just keeps loading and after a ehile it becomes an available option, but if I click on it it displays an error message like: "...contact: Carrier". So I tried everything, I reset my network settings, did 3 full restore(via iTunes, in recovery mode and DFU too). Then finally I downgraded to iOS 6.1.2 and guess what, it started working.. Then I thought it repaired some settings bug which burned in my device and I restored 7.1 in DFU. Now it is not working again. I need the help of community since I need hotspot tethering so hard everyday for my job. Thanks in advance!

I was using APN hotspot on iPhone 4 every day, with an iPad 2 wifi. Now, after iOS 7.1 upgrade, I can't !!

But the worst thing is that my wife, with S4, now is laughing a lot against me ;-) ... Apple, please, at least save my honor at home.

I have had a second contact with a second applecare senior (Belgium/Netherlands). They told me that if i dit a network settings reset and a clean install through itunes there is nothing else to do then to wait for an update.

They try to point at the carrier but this is ********, i know somebody who has iphone 4s ios 7.1 and the same carrier as i and it works for him... my girlfriend has the same iphone4 only ios 7.0.2 and that's working fine aswell, so carrier issue, i don't think so. Carrier is Base.

I don't want to disappoint anybody but the applecare center i was talking with they don't know about any update and since it's a headquarter's decission no other applecare center can know about....

They even told me that i was the first caller for this region with this problem. Everybody keep calling applecare, perhaps it wil make a difference...

Apple i am disgusted about this!

I have also contacted Apple support. It took me 3 chat sessions all of them with seniors to finally have my issue taken seriously. None of them knew about this problem, and the first two pointed their finger at the carrier. Iknew it wasn't the case, but one of them practically hung up on me telling me that he "promised" that if I contacted the carrier they would be able to solve it. Guess what ? ... still here ! :-(

Anyways, the thid person redirected the issue to their engineers. And after a few days, what do you think ? They would like to "determine if the issue is Carrier related or due to other factors" !!! So it looks like they haven't realized yet that there is a problem in their latest release.

So I second all the opinions stating that you all of you reading this and having this issue do the following :

- provide feedback (http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html)

- contact support (http://www.apple.com/support/contact/ - you can chat with them for free if you request an exception stating that you recently updated to iOS 7.1)

- leave a message on this thread with your carrier, device model and iOS version

LISTEN!

I talked with apple service line today.. Today I the lady who I talked to stated that the problem is with the carriers and they can't do anything. Then I fight her to let me talk with a technician(level 2). The technician told me that yes the problem could be with the software, as we knew it... But he also told me that even this is an official forum apple won't take the comments made here as an official statistics. He advised me to send feedback on this page:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Because there these feedbacks will be taken more seriously. So I want to ask everyone whose phone is affected by this problem to generate as much feedback as they can to call apple's attention on this matter. There won't be any solution for this matter on ios 7.1 maybe if the affected providers make a contract with apple and apple will make the official carrier profiles/bundles for them which could be sent out to iphones via OTA updates. Please everybody leave a feedback and write down the problem mentioning every details. You should also mention this forum topic as a reference.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. I added a bug report at https://bugreport.apple.com

It is unbelievable that Apple pretends not to know about this problem and that it does not give a solution nor it says when the problem will be solved, after nearly two weeks, so many complains and telephone calls to support center.

I am very disappointed. Apple, I will get my own back.

I had no problem using the Personal Hotspot on my iPhone 4 with iOS 7.0.6. It was working fine. I upgraded to iOS 7 and I could no longer save the APN for tethering. I am in Papua New Guinea using Digicel.

I like many of you am very frustrated the way Apple is handling this. I am no longer able to connect my laptop to the internet since my only access is through my iPhone.
