iOS 7.1 Personal Hotspot APN settings won't save on iPhone 4

Hello,

I am facing a problem, which would be great to resolve. Since I updated to iOS 7.1 I can't set APN setttings for Personal Hotspot in my iPhone. If I go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Settings, and I set the APNs(for data+mms) and i go back to save the freshly set APN settings then it saves, but if I touch any fields in the "Personal Hotspot" section (even focusing) and I go back the same way any changed value won't save (e.g. I also change data APN). In the menu "Cellular" there is an option for personal tethering where it just keeps loading and after a ehile it becomes an available option, but if I click on it it displays an error message like: "...contact: Carrier". So I tried everything, I reset my network settings, did 3 full restore(via iTunes, in recovery mode and DFU too). Then finally I downgraded to iOS 6.1.2 and guess what, it started working.. Then I thought it repaired some settings bug which burned in my device and I restored 7.1 in DFU. Now it is not working again. I need the help of community since I need hotspot tethering so hard everyday for my job. Thanks in advance!

To me sometimes silence is also an answer. I have been following this thread from day one, I even posted the issue on my blog. Luckily I have 2 iPhones and only upgraded one iOS so I just swaped sims and that was that.

So many apple customers are waiting for you to speak out Apple. Your lack of action is very disrespectful.

I'm in Hong Kong, carrier PCCW-HKT.

I use my mum's iPhone 5s, no problem on personal hotspot.

However, my iPhone 4 does. I went to Genius bar, and they said they believe is a bug.

I dun think Apple blocks the ability to use PH as my mum's can.

I'm super frustrated abt this cuz I cant use internet at school on my Macbook Air -.- )

What reason would/does Apple have to care if we iPhone 4 users lost functionality? After all, we haven't bought any of the last several generations of iPhones, so why should they care? They cater more to folks who line up for hours to get the latest product release. We have not been continually contributing to the Apple executive board salaries, bonuses or pensions, now have we?

The fact that there has been no official word from Apple, and in fact, finger pointing to blame service providers from front-line representatives, is consistent with a corporate disconnect from iPhone 4 users. </cynic mode off>

I've never been an Apple fan. Can you tell? 🙂

(My iPhone 4 was a gift from a friend, I learned to use it and tolerate its quirks.)

I think this is the time they need us to channel our attention to Android...lets go, we survey on SAMSUNG NOTE III. Its much better than Apple even 5s. The engineer of that Samsung technology was imigrated from Apple to Samsung. So thats why a lot of samsung applications most likely Apple tech.

Ok SAMSUNG....here we come to you. Welcome to all my friend. I need on more responsible company like samsung not like a shameful of iphone. They are not gentlemen on handling the high value customer. Without us...they are not growing as like now.

To Apple...this is not a threatening on you. But, if youre still cant settledown on this big issue...thats all.

iPhone 5, IOS 7.1 (unfortunately), carrier Tuenti in Spain. Like everyone else, tethering won't work because the settings for it cannot be changed. But yesterday a change (for me)! Tethering using WiFi continues not to work so I thought I'd trying restoring the last back-up of my phone. I think iTunes told me it couldn't restore until I turned Find My Phone (in Location Services). In any case when I turned Find My Phone off, who knows why, I suddenly regained the use of the Hotspot via USB! It worked on both of my computers. So Hotspot via WiFi still doesn't work but at least there's something--Hotspot by USB.

It's a bug and we must wait the next update to use personal hotspot with virtual carriers.

si eso es real, suena a una gran noticia! Espero que sea lo antes posible

( sounds great if real, but I hope won't take a long )

On A side note... I have read lot of replies talking about carriers guilt, or device specific guilt... as I have replied and tell you again... I'm having same issue with my both IOS devices, ( Iphone 4 and Ipad 4 ),one is with one non Apple partner, and the other one is Apple partner. No one works. The only common deal in both is BOTH are factory unlocked, so no preprogramed APN settings coming from Sim card... including the partner carrier one

I have seen some apple Partner carriers Iphones where the Personal Hotspot settings boxes doesn't even appear when entering into settings area, however their hotspot function works. So they seems to be preset from Sim Card OR from Partner software into the phones

a little bit off topic... does somebody knows how to change or edit my Support board screen name ? I was to register like Nacho-RT74 and forgott to add the O at the end of my shortname LOL.
