Iphone 5s battery drains fast after ios 7.1 update.

Agreed, seriously this half baked update crap is seriously ******* me off. An update is supposed to improve something not be worse than the original! I'm no longer updating as soon as updates come out until apple does a proper release, was any user testing done before releasing? Fix it!

I've had several problems regarding my battery life as well especially when it come to using cellular data. I would lose 10% of my battery in a matter of minutes.

Mine automatically restarts as well although it doesn't happen too often (like, a few times a week). I, however have had no problem whatsoever regarding my camera. My main concern is getting the **** battery to last.

I agree with you, we pay to have smart phones then have to turn everything off to save the battery life. It may be time to dump the smart phones and go back to your basic flip phone. My old razor would last for days with out having to vaherge it. What good is a phone if you have to turn everything off to make it a basic phone so when you leave your home you do not constantly have to carry a charger with you.

I agree updates should fix problems not cause them. It may be time to say good bye to Apple.

Ios 7.1.1 is out - I'm staying on 7.0.5 until 5s users confirm battey improves over 7.1

but i still have some troubleshooting to do like a charge cycle and restore as new with a clean restore lets see what will happened

Hi guys, ios 7.1.1 seem to have slow the battery drain a little. I installed it today and battery seem to last longer but I have not fully tested it out yet. So far looks better. Will keep you guys update again. Cheers!

Well, I installed 7.1.1, and I'm still draining like before. Unplugged phone at 100% at 7:30, I've sent three text and talk for five minutes on the phone, it's now 10 o'clock and I'm down to 60%. So almost half of battery life loss in three and half hours, while essentially doing nothing. I've done everything that is been recommended to me by the "experts". The next step is to get a new (probably refurbished) phone. Not so cheerful. 😟

7.1.1 still the same problem.

what they have been trying to help is only asking like a robot "have you tried to restored it as new?" "Have you tried to turn of bg refresh and loc service?" "Have u tried to reduce motion?" " have u tried turn it off and on again?" "Have u tried turn off 'insert all apple apps here'?"

And some people dont really have this problem but pretending that they have it ,to cover apple 's fault

Whatever you think, 7.1.1 fixed it for me. After a full day of normal use, at 9.45 pm i am at 69%.

7.1 was therrible.

The lie in the story was, that it wasn't 7.1.

It was 7.1 and it was ****.

the battery runtime is still mieserabel!

Same with me and this is after Apple replaced my phone, had a senior Tech walk me thru doing a full restore as new (messing up all my photos)..I've resorted to using a Mophie case so I can at least get a days usage with it.

In our case after a long search we found out that it was a rogue app (my wife and I) as they call it as described in my post from the 28th of March. We both are again very happy with the 'normal' battery usage after removing this rogue app which was running all the time.

We now have again a 1-1,5 day or even 2 days (if i don't use my phone much) and with WIFI connecting for about 90-95% of the day and ofcourse phone network but no 3G.

For people who are still struggeling with battery drainage i would suggest to read my post and also look at this blog post first from a former 'Geniusbar' person at an Apple Store.

this message is a repeat of my previous message from the 14th of April but i'm still seeing quite some replies on this topic from people which do not indicate what they did do (e.g. check the blog post or not) and if the indeed have the exact same Usage time as Stand-by time or not in their Settings > General > Use > ..

If this is not the case then it could be that it simply is a hardware issue (battery itself) and not software related.

I of course cannot say with 100% certainty, but I have also had rampant power drainage as well with my phone, however... My experience has gone like this:

Wake up, remove my phone from the charger.

Go about my day.

At some point hours later I look at my phone, and see that I have away less battery remaining that would be "normal".

This is what I then do:

I go and simply close every single app running.

Battery drainage ceases.

This is *especially* the case with google apps, like maps and google+.

Also I have background refresh turned off for every app except one or two that I want it on for, and know I've not had issues with it being on.

My theory (I know everyone has one) is that some apps are having compatibility issues with something that has changed in ios 7, probably really low level, like processor idle state or timer related. The apps are not properly idling in the background. A big change in ios7 was that the OS now really multitasks apps, allowing them to *run* in the background. If some old code in these apps don't know how to idle properly (like contain a infinite loop for updating something) then they will suck your battery. I'm convinced googles apps have an issue like this. Disabling "background refresh" for everything and then turning it back on, one app at a time may help you find the offender.

Sorry you folks have had so many issues, hope this helps someone. I'm certain there are other issues going on as well.

Ok so I fully charged my 5S all day long till ~5:00 PM. Did not touch it till 7:00AM. Pre-7.1 I'd have 96%-98%...this morning 81%. My wife's iPhone 5 same thing, charged all day till 5-6:00PM looked at 7:00AM she had 86%. Nothing has changed except we updated to 7.1. No one @ Apple con convince me that this isn't caused from the 7.1 update. We need a patch fast! this is extremely frustrating esspecially if I am out all day away from a charger.
