Iphone 5s battery drains fast after ios 7.1 update.

Am I the only one who seems to be experiencing this? My iphone 5S battery seem to drain much faster than usual, and charge longer. I heard that the new update is supposed to increase battery life, and read comparison threads regarding other iphones that are capable of a much better battery life than mine.

I've had my phone for 3 months, never have dropped it once or anything of the sort, if that matters. My battery drains to 50% within an hour or so after intense use on the lowest level of brightness, and I seem to lose about 5-7 percents when on standby for 5 hours or so. Is this normal? Is it perhaps due to the fact that I am mostly using 3g, and applications that require more processing such as tumblr (graphics and gifs) as well safari? I'm just worried that my battery may be draining to quick, despite the update which's supposed to make it much better according to many people.

Thanks.

I am not convinced that "resetting all settings" can be a fix; because then you would have to go through all the various location, background refresh, push and what not settings again, in order to lock things down.

That's what we had to do when iOS7 came out.

So, if you have trouble with battery drain after 7.1, it makes no sense that removing all the restrictions with a reset all, which turns everything back on to factory default, would fix a battery issue.

Sounding like a broken record on this forum, but my iPhone is running out of juice too darned quickly. Did a full charge last night, went into airplane mode when it was at 98%, woke up at 7AM, it was at 94%. Perfect, or so I thought. Turned airplane mode off, WiFi on, and surfed for 10 minutes on Safari, battery level down to 55%!! Cell stayed with LTE all the way thru. What is going on, Apple??????

SOLVED MY DRAINING PROBLEMS!

I sympathize to you all that have seen your battery start draining, some with the 7.0.6 (or before?) and with the 7.1 update. After the 7.1 upgrade, I went from 2 days of "normal use" to 2 hours, having the CPU running at 100% most of the time.

I was about to get crazy ($900 for a unusable phone???). I did everything, everything off, reset, restore from iCloud, full restore from iTunes, always with worst results...

I do not know if this was already mentioned here, but in my case the culprit was a/some process(es) related with iCloud (sync).

I disabled "Documents and data" and "Safari" and - MIRACLE - that was it, back to CPU at 5% and normal drain...

(I disabled everything from iCloud and put them on later, except those ones).

SOLVED! 🙂

Hello,

Whoever curious to read.

Tim is not Steve Jobs but Tim is Tim.

Recently Apple released new update for it's most advanced operating system iOS to version 7.1. The basic feature of a mobile is Call and SMS. But this ain't happening to be the most advanced operating system now, This update brings tremendous amount of degrade in signal towers and battery health becomes dead now.

Apple should have to take immediate corrective actions on this and should release an update with quick fix. This time we cannot able to use devices this is quite real and serious.

Thanks

I reluctantly installed 7.1 after being advised by an Apple tech that it contained necessary fixes for a potential security breach. I upgraded to a 5s from a 4s in December so my phone (and the battery) is only three months old. When I attempted to call my wife from the grocery yesterday afternoon, I received a warning that my battery was at less than 20%. Because it was Sunday, I had barely used the phone. I attributed the power darin to the instillation itself (although that didn't seem to make sense). When I brought the phone home and started charging it, I noticed that it was going nowhere fast. I commented to my wife that something was wrong with the phone and that if it didn't get better today, I was going to have someone at the Apple Store look at it as soon as I could get there. Nevertheless, it was at 100% by 4:15 a.m. this morning when I woke up. HOWEVER, by 5:30 a.m. and not any use, it was at 75% (!!!). I checked the "push/fetch" settings to insure the phone wasn't continually searching for e-mail and then checked every other setting which seemed appropriate. I then turned on my laptop and checked the news. The first story was a headline screaming that everyone else was having this problem. Come on, Apple, this is not what we expect from you. Fix it!

I posted earlier, but after reading the posts about the phone running hot, I realized I had omitted that condition. When my phone rang yesterady afternoon, my wife picked it up to hand it to me. She almost dropped it because it was so hot. I haven't used it at all since early this morning, but it is very warm--even warmer than when I use it extensively. Something VERY different is going on with this phone.

I don't doubt that some people have this issue. I do not.

What I suggest is the following:

1. Hard reset hold both buttons until Apple logo appears.

2. Restore from a sync and backup. This made a difference for me, battery life got much better.

3. Limit push notifications to those you really need.

4. Limit location services to those you really need, and watch to see if the indicator comes up.

IPhone 5s 16 - 4.40 mins using mainly 3G since ios 7.1 update. Was 5.50 mins on 7.0.6.

This is with notifications, Bluetooth, wi fi. Auto downloads off, no back ground refresh and auto dim on.

Battery is appalling on iPhone 5s - apple advertise upto 8 hours on 3G.

I installed my iphone 7.1 using dfu install not over the air.

Really annoyed at apple in this.
