How to turn off voice control in iOS 7.1?

Hello

I just updated my Iphone 5 to iOS 7.1.

When my iphone is in my pocket I activate voice control all the time by mistake and so I call random people all the time.

I just really want to turn voice dialing off, until iOS 7.1 I fixed this problem by going to settings-->general-->pass code lock on-->turn off voice dial

But now when I wanna do the same there's no option anymore to turn voice dial off...

Can anybody help me?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1

solved, it just deleted my settings with the iOS 7.1 update.

1. Turn Siri on --> settings --> general --> Siri

2. (just for the case you deactivated Siri here, not sure if you need to do that)

settings --> general --> restrictions --> Siri on

3. settings --> passcode --> Turn Passcode on --> Allow Access when Locked --> Siri OFF

and it works better than before since you can't activate Voice Control anymore when your iPhone is locked...

Thanks for the info but it does not help on the 5C with 7.1.

With SIRI on or off, pass code on or off the voice dial is still there.

Have now taken to putting a piece of plastic over the button when in my pocket. How ridiculous is that on a so called premium brand product!!!

If I was a tech geek I would be rolling back to 7.0 but I have no idea and don't fancy bricking the thing.

Hey Smokey Granvill

Did you read (at the beginning of this thread) how I fixed it? I have a 5 on iOS 7.1 and that works for me, I had to turn passcode off and then on again that I had the possibility to turn Siri off... but not only voice dialing is deactivated, Siri is now completely deactivated from the lock screen... when I push now the home button from the lock screen nothing happens anymore:

Hope it works for the 5C too...

I'm not sure but I believe I read somewhere when Siri is on, voice control is replaced by Siri and Siri overtakes the voice control, the normal voice control isn't active anymore at all.

To disable Siri from the lock screen helps for the lock screen dialing issue, but you're right when your iphone isn't in the lock screen mode Siri is on and that's something you can't disable. Luckily I never had a problem with Siri apart from the pocket dialing problem but like you said, it would be great to disable Siri at all...

I just wasted an hour with Apple Support just to establish that this issue for iPhone 4 users with the 7.1 update was un-solvable. It is. The first Apple Advisor I chatted with acknowledged the problem straight away and said: "I do want to take a second and personally apologize and let you know that I am truly sorry this happened. You are in good hands and trust me, I just want this fixed and I am sure you do as well".

He then tried to get me to do a complete factory reset of my phone for no good reason so I lost faith in him at that point!

After the chat session crashed he emailed me, and then got me to phone the Apple Support number where the lady I spoke to tried to get me to do the same thing. She hadn't been aware of the issue before and didn't think Apple would likely be doing anything about it - not very encouraging.

Just got this update from the original Apple Advisor:

"I am so sorry that happened. I guess with the new update they must have disabled it. You are right, it really did increase the performance greatly. This is what I am going to do, I am going to let my manager know about this and put in notes and what you can do is go apple.com/feedback. It is a great way to leave feedback. That is how we got right clicks on our macs now. Again, I am so sorry. If you ever have any questions I am here for you. I will make sure the people above me knows about this."

For those offering solutions... the issue is disabling voice calling on iphone4, which is not possible if running iOS7.

From an engineering standpoint, this would be the most inconvenient "software update" ever conceived. They litterally removed the ability to disable. It is extremely obvious that this was a business decision to help push iphone5 upgrades. That said, I'm going to start searching the market for smart phone product.

Not been a user of the iphone for long but having now got the very irritating problem of being unable to disable voice control..and having read all the previous entries, I am not wasting any more time on it. I am moving onto a different make and binning this one. I won't be recommending the iphone to anyone..in fact the exact opposite..avoid Apple like the plague
