IOS 7.1 creates scrolling problem?

Upgraded my UK iPhone 5S 64GB to ios 7.1 yesterday. I have been facing page scrolling problems in all applications (Bloomberg, BBC, Safari, FT, LinkedIn, FaceBook...all applications). The problem is easily reproduced by keeping your finger on the screen when the page to scroll is displayed and moving the finger slowly to scroll the page. The page jumps in direction opposite to the expected.

i hope apple provides the fix soon. it renders my phone useless at crucial times when i have to reply to texts or emails. i also noticed when it doesn't work, only the bottom third of the screen is touch sensitive. for example you can open the safari app but cannot search because the search panel is at the top of the screen. Jonnyderpp you are absolutely right, that's exactly how the phone now operates for me also.

Hope there is a fix soon. The phone is useless while it's like this.

I'd really be interested to fined the numbers of iPhones experiencing this issue. Cause honestly this can't be a hardware problem when all of a sudden an operating system update renders a phone useless.

I experienced this problem a few minutes ago and found this post. Then I remembered I wasn't having it until now. After I unplugged the phone from the wall charger it automatically fixed itself. I didn't have this problem with my OTO charger, but with this 3rd party charger.

Since the touch screen is based on a capacitor that measures the electrical input when it comes into contact with our skin, I assumed that the charger caused an improper electrical reading. This may be because of the 3rd party charger is improperly calivrated or the capacitor is having a soft surge due to the charging process.

Can anyone verify the problem that I experienced? Does this happen to all while charging or at random times, too?

Redball21, the scroll issue continues for me constantly. I am using a genuine apple charger with my iPhone 5. The keyboard is the most frustrating. My work around has been to hit the mic icon next to the space key and dictate. I only use the top half of the screen to scroll, which prevents random screen jumps and double key presses etc.

hi all, i've found a quick fix that allows your phone to work normally, but at the expense of not locking your phone or setting autolocking to 'never'. it has been working for me, so far. still, i'm hoping for the update that will fix the issue to be available soon. you may try it and share here if it works. hopefully it does for you and if you dont mind not locking your phone. honestly at the moment, i just want my phone to work and am willing to put up with the insecurity of not locking my phone.

I have the same issue: recently got an iphone 5c - working perfectly until I upgraded to 7.1

now i have a lot of UI bugs, mainly with scrolling and notification pane coming over application when not needed (when this happens the app can't be clicked, controled, used anymore or exited. I have to lock the phone/ unlock it to take control of the app again).

This is frustrating after using the new phone properly for a couple of days only....

I've had a 5C for about two weeks. When I updated to ios 7.1, I started having scrolling issues. I'm unable to use any touchscreen functionality in the middle of the screen. I contacted apple support and they just told me to reboot and restore my phone to default settings. This did nothing of course. I mentioned to them that other users were having the same issue. They told me to go to an Apple stor for repair. If it can't be fixed they said they would give me a new phone. They never acknowledged an issue with the ios upgrade.

We are seeing similar issues as a developer.

7.1 upgrade has messed up scrolling in jquery mobile apps.

Whenever the keyboard opens then closes any open dialogs on the screen are scrolled off the bottom.

This was a problem in previous versions of iOS as well and we had come up with fixes for them.

7.1 broke them all again.

Since the iOS 7.1 update on my 5s I'm experiencing a "dead spot/bar" on my phone -- at about the "decrease volume" button on the side all the way across the screen with dead zone being about the height of the button or maybe a little taller. If I touch in that zone the phone doesn't respond. If I touch near the edge of that "bar" (top or bottom of the zone/bar) then the phone jumps all over the place. Hoping there's a fix soon, because it's kind of rendering certain app's on my phone worthless. It affects scrolling for my task app, it affects an entire section for my checkbook app, typing, etc. I don't notice this on my 4s that I updated though.

same issue here. scrolling doesn't work well anymore. not only safari is affected but also apps, e.g chive etc. iphone 5s. happened after upgrade to ios 7.1. ipad air isn't affected. every upgrade seem to introduce more and more issues unfortunately. at least they give us back the local sync option for calendar and contacts soon. otherwise I had finally left the apply mobile device section. well, as the iphone is currently unusable for browsing I'll try my first android thing then.
