after upgrade my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.1 I have no Wifi, after wake up from sleep!!

Hi,

after upgrade my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.1 I have no Wifi, after wake up from sleep!! It takes several minutes until it workes proberly again. I was yesterday already in the Apple store and they made a service install of iOS 7.1, where the complete iOS was installed new instead of just updating it. Also the settings menu is not reacting during this time. somtimes the complete iOS is not reacting. If this occures only a hard rest is solving and then the Wifi stack is working well until is sleeps again. Then the problem starts again.

Does anyone raised already a ticket at apple or has a solution? A downgrade to 6.1.3 is not possible/allowed, but this would help.

I had the same problem and these are the steps I used to fix my wifi from not working. I found this on the net so this is not mine. I did 1-3 and then mine started working and so far so good:

1- iPhone WiFi issues? Reboot your device!

Well, I assume most of you have already tried that but in case you haven’t, simply press and hold the power key along with Home button until you see the Apple logo appearing again. If it solves the iPhone WiFi issues, congratulations. You had it the easiest way!

2- Reset network settings:

Resetting network helps in some 60 – 70% of cases suffering from iPhone WiFi issues. Go to Settings > General > scroll down to Reset, and thentapon Reset Network Settings. If you are on a secure network, it will ask you pass keys.

3- Check router:

Perhaps the issue is not with your iOS 7 updated device, but your internet connection? Before proceeding to the next fix, make sure your network is working fine and so is the router / modem. Try same network on your other devices to ensure that it is working fine.

If all is good with network and network equipment, proceed to the very last option.

4- Restore iPhone – Gah!

If you don’t seem to solve the iPhone WiFi issue using any of the above checkups, final resort is to reset your Apple iPhone. Resetting Apple device sort of cleanses your device so it will come out all clean and error-free like new.

To reset your iOS 7 device, head over to Settings > General > Reset, and tap on the Reset All Settings. You can also reset your device from iTunes. The option Restore iPhone will show up once you connect your device with the computer.

Well I saw the hair dryer solution and thought it a bit radical. Then I saw the discussion about router settings and how 7.1 may not be fully compliant with or maybe I should say less forgiving of unsophisticated routers networking ability. So I set my Actiontek GT701D DSL/Router to transparant bridge and fired up my old Tenda W330R router. Appears to have solved the problem. Something about the 7.1 update made the iPhone 4 and iPad very finicky about conversations with the Actiontek router. Wifi connections on both the iPhone and iPad have not dropped since I started using the Tenda router. Makes one wonder what Apple did to make 7.1 so intolerant of existing router setups.

Yep, I have a 4s and had the same result, no wifi AND no bluetooth connection immediately after updating to ios 7.1. Cannot use my iphone in my car as a result, and this put's me out of business while traveling. Not good, and so far, no fix. Common apple... get this done! Let's see this update occured sometime @ mid March. It's been weeks!

-it see the wifi but cannot manage to connect to it

-it cannot turn wifi on often

-it stuck in the general setting page

-it stuck at the email page

-today it turned off (!!!) itself once (battery fully charged)

-It stuck very often and it is slow sometimes too! randomly!

-It get the wifi (!!!) and then it loose it again!

Gosh! seems to have a windows phone! I'm so scared!

Wonder HOW Iphone have not realised 4s was going to have so many problems with Ios 7.1 !!!

Really Apple, you suggest a software update that causes our iphone 4s not to be able to connect to the internet anymore??? I was already doubting wether I should switch to Android after this iphone, but I guess you just made the decision for me.

The downgrading of upgrading to your newest software:

- can not connect to wifi, anywhere

- can not even swipe the wifi button to connect

- one minute I have 100% battery charge, 2 minutes later my phone dies

- frequent freezing in the settings menu

- phone dies out of the blue (enough battery power left), then switches on again like half on hour later (this must be similar to the level of concentration the programmers of this software update must have had in their brain while creating this mess)

We are having similar wifi connectivity issues with our devices after the 7.1 upgrade.

The issue is that we have to stand right next to the AirPort Extreme and router for our iPhones and iPads to connect. If we don't, the devices do not detect the wifi signal and revert to 3G.

I have tried every single recommendation in this thread, and none seems to work.

My silly son was not aware of this connectivity issue and kept connecting online without wifi, clocking up $800 in mobile broadband on the assumption that wifi was on -as it used to be before the 7.1 update.

I am very disappointed in this update, and in Appleor not releasing a fix, or at least an official communique stating that they are aware of the problem and are working hard to resolve it.

And to that dude who keeps going on about resetting the router because the devices now speak another dialect: quit it, man! You are not being part of the solution.... You are being part of the problem by deflecting the issue to people's routers.

Apple caused the problem with the latest update, it is Apple the one who must fix it!

Final after 2 week of wait on update fix for 7.1 finally I call apple told them about issues. I was have after update no wifi apps not working and and buggy screen and i had to drive, 63 miles there and 63 miles back home over 2 driving and 1 hour and 30 minutes of waiting at Apple store. Apple replaced the bad iPad. For a new one at no cost because it was still under warranty. The new iPad works great on 7.0.4 thanks apple, but now please fix update. Will update when issues are fixed. Please fix the iOS 7.1 soon.
