iTunes Match streaming with gaps between songs since ios7.1 update

Hi - I foolishly made the mistake of installing the 7.1 update on all my ios devices yesterday morning! Since then when I stream music from iTunes Match I get a gap between each track. Not a problem when listening to studio albums but a total nightmare when it comes to listening to live concert recordings, of which I have many.

My iMac seems to be unaffected and streams live music seamlessly but all three ios devices have this same problem. If I download the recording to the device it plays seamlessly but that rather defeats the aim of having all my music in the cloud without the need to store it on a device. I have been in touch with Apple who don't have any answers but seem to think the update may have changed the way ios now interacts with iTunes Match. They are looking in to it and will come back to me.

Have been through multiple reboots and iTunes Match re-installs etc without any joy. I have also had the same problem when trying to stream over a cellular network and another wireless network.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I'd welcome any help or suggestions...thanks.

What is bad is i just purchased Bruce Springsteen's "Live in New York City" from the iTunes store, downloaded it to my iPhone 5s, and there is still a 1/2 second hiccup between each track. Not as bad as 3 seconds, but still annoying. Apple, please fix this. I am playing by all your rules, and the experience is less than optimal. Never before do I recall any of my previous Apple devices doing that.

Hi Ian

The last communication I had from Apple was confirmation that the issue exists but that the service is operating as it should! They have no plans to fix this and wouldn't tell me why.

The only work around I have found is to connect the optical digital output from an Apple tv to a mini-hi-fi, using the 'Remote' app on my iPad to select the music I want to listen to. This works well as the Apple tv still streams iTunes Match content without gaps - but for how long? Who's to say they won't update the software on the Apple tv at some point and remove this feature?

It's a disappointing state of affairs for everyone who used to enjoy the ease and simplicity of streaming live recordings prior to IOS7.1

I cancelled my September auto renewal of iTunes Match a few weeks ago and will switch back to high capacity devices and manual syncing next time I get an iPhone or iPad (if indeed I do because something like this with one or two more disgruntlements will force me to migrate entirely away from Apple and back over to Abndroid/Microsoft from which it increasingly is indistinguishable in terms of responsivenss). Crazy, but Apple gives me no option if I want to listen to anything but Coldplay and the other bland c**p they love to promote, with every song tidily contained in seperate tracks. Great music doesn't always work like that Apple.

Hi Ian

That is interesting. I just want to be clear about my Apple TV set up. It is logged into my iTunes Match account and as long as I select iTunes Match content on the Apple TV it streams perfectly for me without gaps. (I use the 'Remote' app on my iPad to access the Apple TV Music menu.)

If I try to use airplay to send music from my iPad, iPod or iPhone to my Apple TV it will stream with gaps.

Are you saying that you still get gaps when streaming directly from the Apple TV?

I completely agree with you Ian - it's a ridiculous state of affairs.

I can no longer use my Bose and iPod to stream live recordings. I did just want to highlight to anyone following this thread that the Apple tv does currently stream music from iTunes Match without gaps although it is a far from ideal solution.

It's so disappointing because iTunes Match had really liberated my live music collection before IOS7.1 came along. Apple's eventual response to my repeated enquiries about this have certainly left me in no doubt how important my views are to them!
