iTunes Match streaming with gaps between songs since ios7.1 update

Hi - I foolishly made the mistake of installing the 7.1 update on all my ios devices yesterday morning! Since then when I stream music from iTunes Match I get a gap between each track. Not a problem when listening to studio albums but a total nightmare when it comes to listening to live concert recordings, of which I have many.

My iMac seems to be unaffected and streams live music seamlessly but all three ios devices have this same problem. If I download the recording to the device it plays seamlessly but that rather defeats the aim of having all my music in the cloud without the need to store it on a device. I have been in touch with Apple who don't have any answers but seem to think the update may have changed the way ios now interacts with iTunes Match. They are looking in to it and will come back to me.

Have been through multiple reboots and iTunes Match re-installs etc without any joy. I have also had the same problem when trying to stream over a cellular network and another wireless network.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I'd welcome any help or suggestions...thanks.

I don't get this service. It was such a good idea, but it's like they introduced it and then immediately abandoned it. As far as I can tell, there have been no improvements or new features since it was introduced, only features disappearing and breaking. And whenever things break, we end up having to wait until the next major iOS release to hope it gets fixed. What a mess. I would happily pay much more than they are charging, if they actually supported the service.

At least that's something, a bit of progress.

TBH I'd be happy if it was fixed with iOS 8 as at least it's round the corner.

Up to this point their response has been nothing short of sticking their head in the sand by saying the service is as it's supposed to be which is clearly nonsense.

Unfortunately, its not just the iTunes Match / streaming part that is broken. Even local files on the iOS 7.1 device do not play back correctly some of the time. I purchased "The Dark Side of the Moon" from the iTunes store. I can download the files to my iPhone 5s running iOS 7.1, and the files still have a slight hiccup between each track. This goes beyond the streaming issue!

if I play the album through the artist, I get gaps. If i go straight to the album there are no gaps.

Not ideal.

Doesn't work for me.

Still gaps in between songs which is incredibly frustrating.

Thank you so much... very frustrating, but at least now I know that the songs/albums are truly marked as 'gapless' even if my iPhone won't always play them that way.

I've downloaded ios 8, but so far, I have not noticed an improvement. Still checking my library.

I might have to reconsider my last reply -- it does seem on some of the opera recordings there is a noticable improvement -- no abrupt gaps. The first I made my snap decision on was the Brahms-Handel Variations that Mischa Dichter did many years ago -- what I thought was a gap issue is simply a bad edit in the original recording. Anybody else notice improvements?

OK...well not sure about anyone else but the IOS8 update has certainly solved the problem with gaps between tracks on all the live recordings I've uploaded to iTunes Match. Everything seems to be streaming perfectly again. Any live shows purchased in iTunes (I only have a few) have a very slight gap between each track but it's nothing like the wait we used to have in IOS7.1...very pleased to be able to stream my live shows once again 🙂
