Automatically Add to iTunes not working

I have all my music files stored on an external drive (a NAS server). In Preferences > Advanced the Library location points to this external location and "Keep iTunes media folder organized" is checked. When I manually add music files they get placed in this location.

In the library on the external drive there is a folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes.localized" and when I add music files to this folder they are not getting added to iTunes.

I am running version 11.1.5 of iTunes.

Any thought as to what my problem is?

I have the same issue ― and the Automatically Add to iTunes folder is located inside the iTunes Media folder in my library, so that is not the cause. Try this: once a new album is copied in the Automatically Add to iTunes folder (and just sitting there), go down to where you see the album's mp3 files, highlight them all, then click Open, and the files should open in iTunes. Longer than the usual procedure, but it works.
