I've not had any luck with the router thing. But honestly, it's because I really don't know what/how to do it. BUT...what I've found that seems to be working (so far) is that I updated all the aps I had (even ones I never use, podcast, find your friends, etc... and then I closed ALL the aps on my ipad except for Safari and viola! I seem to be staying connected and the speed has improved greatly, not as good as before the update, but def faster than it had been prior to me doing this. I will try your suggestions re: going to another's house or public hotspot and see if it changes or is different in any way.

Also, like you I have 2 other devices that work perfectly since the update, it's just my 'new' -to me ipad 2 that is having these issues w/ wifi.

If you have time, I would love to take you up on your offer of getting the 'exact steps of finding this router" when I googled (from my laptop-not my ipad2) the 192.168.1.1 nothing came up except websites with people asking about that 'address'. :-(

Ipad 4 64gb battery drain terrible and slow since 7.1 update. Was on 7.04 and Ipad ran fast and smooth. Was promised 7.1 was better and faster. They should allow us to go back if we are having problems. It is unfair for Apple to be a gistapo like compny and hold us from using our devices the way we want. I have an android tablet as well and I can do whatever I want and run whatever firmare version I find better. I'm already ****** at Apple because they locked WIFI only Ipads from being able to use an external GPS via Bluetooth. What possibly drove them to cripple that small feature, excpet for more profit and force us to buy the more expensive model. Well I can't afford the more expensive model and can't afford additional 4g service. I have tethering on my sprint phone, so I don't need 4g on the ipad. I hoped that 7.1 was going to allow me to use my external GPS device via bluetooth, so I can use the GPS app that I purchased. Instead it slowed down my Ipad, causes lockups, camera problems, wifi problems and more. Shame on you Apple.

My comments fit the topic. And Apple Feedback/Tech Support don't listen.

Are you a tech or novice, because I am an apple and pc tech. Trust me when I say 7.1 is flawed. You just don't use your "I" devices the same way. I have performed every scenario available. It is the firmware. And in cases like this a user should be able to downgrade to a working firmware, to avoid hardships and be forced to purchase downgraded producsts.. Because my Ipads are used for business, I have to resort to finding and purchasing additional Ipads with a prior firmware, so the extensive music production apps don't lag and lock up or close during live performances.

Too many users are experiencing the exact same slowdown, video problems and battery drain. The internet is riddled with postings in forums.

I'm sure it depends on what apps a user runs and how they use their "I" device.

Apple are unreal. Both my wife and I have IPad2, I updated the latest IOS 7.1 on my Ipad2, and found the speed through VPN connection so slow, it would not stream any videos. I reset the device and turned off fireware in my router, but nothing changed. I asked my wife not to download the update and her's works fine. Mine is rendered useless. We live in the Middle East and depend on VPN to access Brit TV etc.

I cannot tell you how much money I have spent on Apple products, and thats the thanks you get for keeping them in business. All my other apple devices left on earlier IOS, work fine. And have to add here, upgrading to newer devices comes with having to upgrade to newer and more costly accessories to accommodate them.

Yet again, the Customer has to suffer due to Apple's lack of responsibility and customer care that it lacks. "KEEP UP THE BAD WORK APPLE"
