Using Wireless under Parallels

Hi

I jus installed Parallels, and subsequently Win XP Pro SP2.

I can't seem to use the wireless network. Under Network Connections, I don't see Wireless Connection. Only a Local Area Connection.

I am also using Parallel Tools. Or should I use the native network?

What should I do to get wireless network?

Thanks in advance

Jimmy

I believe that Parallels presents a "generic network adapter" to the operating system running inside the Parallels environment. This will be connected to your built in ethernet or your wireless network connection depending on which is active in OS X. In this way, Parallels "just works" to connect the guest operating system to your network.

I don't think you can use the wireless connection in OSX as a wireless connection inside of Parallels, e.g. for running wireless scanning software, etc.

Using the Mac System Preferences, select Network. For the pop-up menu Show, select Network Port Configurations. Do you see a Parallels Host-Guest Adapter? If not, I'd say you should uninstall and then reinstall Parallels Desktop.

In my Parallels VM Window, all it shows for network is Bridged Ethernet - default adapter. I set up absolutely nothing to use WiFi at home or at work.

did you install the "additional software" from within parellels? (I forget what it is called, don't have it infront of me)

In your vertual machine, you have to select wireless - looks something like 0.1 or something.

maybe someone else can have a look at their settings.

A quick look on their site:
http://download.parallels.com/GA/ParallelsDesktop_for_Mac_Quick_StartGuide.pdf

shows installing the additional Tools. Have you installed these? (page 23)

and on page 28 it shows that Network adaptor needs to be set for en1 Airport/Wireless
