error 2 windows error 2

I am having problems trying to get itunes to install due to error 2.

I have done a bunch of research... I have uninstalled everything, removed all the extra folders...

tried to reinstall... didn't work. removed everything again.

Tried to reinstall not connected to the Internet... didn't work.

I just cant get this to work...

I have my ipad connected to a library on this computer and I can't connect it to another without losing over 200 songs... I need to get this fixed...

anyone have any thoughts on what the heck is going on.

I am really frustrated and at my wits end.

Thank you.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.

Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.

Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.

If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Hi B noir, I follow the steps correctly but I still get an error message during the installation of apple application support. The message is as follow:

Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type=``win32``,version=``8.0.50727.6195``,publicKeyToken=``1f c8b3b9a1e18e3b``,process or Architecture=``86``

You know, the usual chineese language for me lol.

Thank you for your help!

Brilliant!!! I was fighting with this for a couple of days, looking for a solution to the errors that came up during installation, rather than the Windows Error 2 when trying to run iTunes. Followed the instructions here and now iTunes works fine on my newly reinstalled Windows 10 64 bit.

Thanks again,

Gordon

Thanks, that worked, but now my PC and iPad won't talk to each other. I get the message:

"This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again".

Obviously, I did as the message suggested... removed then reinstalled, but nothing changed.

I'm just worried about going too deep, as it took me days to even get iTunes working anyway, so don't want to make it worse.

Please advise if you can help me.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Make sure after uninstalling all Apple components to delete any iTunes shortcuts from the desktop, task bar or start menu before reinstalling.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
