Wrong image preview while I am moving adjustment sliders in Aperture

When I move adjustment sliders, a different recently and previosly adjusted image will frequently show in the viewer while the slider is being moved. Sometimes parts of two or more previous images will appear and sometimes in the wrong orientation. This makes it makes it impossible to see the result of the adjustment until I release the slider which is annoying. I cannot reliably replicate the problem but it happens often. It seems random as if the wrong image is in a cache and not refreshing properly.

Details:

MacPro (New) 6-core 32GB RAM, D300 Graphics OS X

Aperture 3.5.1

Moved Library from old machine (2007 MacPro) and rebuilt library

250K images all referenced

Library is big (236GB)

Files are RAW Canon 5dMk3 and tend to be about 30MB

Preferences:

Import: standard previews

Previews: generate automatically and share when quitting (half size medium quality)

library created new previews for all images when I rebuilt it

machine will run processor and memory hard, sometimes around 90%

Might it be a poor choice of preference settings or a corrupt library? Anyone else ever experience this condition? I would appreciate any suggestions.

In the last few days, I have seen several occasions where the wrong image briefly flashed into view, but quickly the display switched to be the correct image as I did some operations. Not sure it this is related to the behavior first reported in this topic, but I will keep watch.

It might be a problem with the RAM in combination with large files. Last year, I have seen similar wrong contents when an image was loaded into the memory for adjusting - like shadows of previously adjusted images, when I was working with very large original files (TIFFS). This stopped, after I exchanged the RAM.

The problem seems less frequent lately. I have also found that if I tap quickly severaly times on the slider that is problematic or if I switch to a different adjustment block and back (maybe several times) it often resolves the issue. It seems that I am forcing it to redraw the image or at least reload it into memory and that is exactly what it should be doing.

I have the same exact issue, and it just started within the past few weeks (as far as I can tell).

I have a 2013 Mac Pro (8 core with 700 cards). I also use external TB RAID for references images, but I am pretty sure I also experienced it using "managed" images (on the internal SSD--- I only move older files to the RAID box).

My guess is that it is a glitch in the FirePro drivers having to do with Core Image (wich I think is used for realtime image adjustments).

For me, a quit/restart makes it go away (temporarily).
