ATV3 framedrops after 6.1 update

Glad my fixed worked for everyone. Keep it in mind when 6.1.x comes out or whatever the next firmware version is 🙂

It's auto-updating back to 6.1 as I speak :-( so I'm going to have to do it all again tomorrow...

Tip: don't turn atv on without the TV being on!

Hi, I have ATV3 on 5.3, works beautifully, another with 6.1, stutters and doesnt display on Panasonic TV.....Apple really has to do something about this 6.1 update.

Ummm, how do I restore to old firmware i have downloaded....I see ATV, but only have dowload latest version, no option to point to firmware.

Meh, keep getting 3194 error, then when fix hosts file it says unable to reach apple update servers....**** it I hate how apple wont let you choose which firmware to want to run!.....Ill be giving the support tech an ear full tonight!

I have the same issue and just started noticing last week on a couple of my new encodes. I thought my encodes were screwed up. I t was driving me crazy. I'm glad at least that it's the 6.1 update and not something on my end. I am getting the stutter about 10 minutes into a movie and it gets progressively worse. However, I've watched some of my other older encodes with no problems. The only difference being those encodes are about 2-3gb smaller than the encodes I'm having problems with. Also using ethernet connection. I haven't tried it on wireless. Apple needs to fix this ASAP.

I don't think it's actual file size that's the problem. More like some sort of difference in the encoding of the file. I was having problems with an 800mb 45 min program (the killing) I re-muxed it and it came out to about 750mb and played fine. I'll try and post more details about the actual files later.

No idea if its a signed version at all..iClarified is the site....

I use iVI to encode using the ATV3 setting. I will use the ATV3/ATV2 setting tonight and see if that makes a difference. Either way, I was not having this problem with any encodes until the 6.1 update.

Netflix is outputting Dolby Digital 5.1 again since downgrading to 6.1.4. Thanks for the tip! Nothing like old software to just work. There once was a time when Apple was famous for this...

So I tried the ATV2/ATV3 setting in iVI and Lone Survivor encode played fine but a WALL-E encode done at the same time, same settings, was dropping frames about 15 minutes in. Eventually dropped the audio completely. I hit the menu button and it took a minute or so to get out of the movie to the menu. I don't know what's going on , but I've never had problems with any of my 200+ encodes before and I've been doing it the same way for years. Very frustrating. Wonder if Apple is even aware of this or if they care.

FWIW, I have an ATV3 1427 as well, and was hoping that the 6.1.1 update from last night would fix the problem, but alas it does not.

9.5 minutes into, say, a downloaded copy of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" the sound will drop out, and the video will lock up within the next minute.

Still waiting for happiness and a fix. :-(
