My ipad's perfectly fine until I get this message! Appeared after software update. 😟 What do I do?

I hope so too. I'm actually dreading to update it again because I see new posts having the same problem. I actually bought an iPad mini last week (I still don't know if it was a good idea?!) and I also didn't expect the simple hard reset will bring the iPad 2 back to life. I wish everyone's money doesn't go to waste again just because of a simple update.

My iPad 2 which I purchased in Thailand a few years ago started displaying this error when I upgraded the software earlier this year. A trip to a UK Apple store resulted in the Genius saying he had never seen the message before and then accused me of having a counterfeit model which was why Apple servers were stopping the activation process. He kindly offered to take it in as part exchange against a new Air or to swap it out for another 2 at £199. I declined both options and returned home. I emailed Tim Cook with this tale of woe at the beginning of July. I also had a separate moan about the Home button replacement on my iPhone 5 which took 14 days and resulted in the store and AppleCare not actually knowing where my phone was at one point.

No reply from Tim Cook however I tried activation again a couple of weeks ago. The so called counterfeit iPad is now working again.

no luck for me either, it would be nice to have an official statement from apple about this issue, but at this point i think we won't have one...

i always loved apple products (i'm watching contents from my NAS on my ipad 1 while i write this) but after the wall of silence surrounding this issue i'm reconsidering my position on their products...
