Insert excel table into mac mail

How does one insert a formatted Excel table into a Mail e:mail.

I have a small spreadsheet that I would simply like to have the formatted spreadsheet in the e:mail. The best Mail appears to do is a simple column table.

Surely Mac Mail can handle basic pasted objects??

Mac OS X (10.7.5)

This is what I do when I want to insert an excel spreadsheet to a Mail message:

1. Copy the range of cells you want that appear within the mail

2. Open a new word file and paste the cells

3. Copy the cells you pasted on word

4. Paste the cells from word to the mail message, and that's it

Before e-mailing the file to another Excel user, verify their version of Excel. Make sure you save as the Excel file to an older version than the recipient has, or the same version.

You can then compress the Excel file in a crossplatform Zip format before e-mailing it. Control-mouse click in the Finder to archive or compress it. In mail, make sure the attachment toolbar paperclip icon is visible with View menu -> Customize Toolbar on a window that is set to compose the message. Then use that paperclip to attach the Zip file. When the file dialog box comes up to choose the zip file, be sure to set it to send Windows Friendly Attachments.

The problem is, unless your other recipient is using the same e-mail, you can't guarantee that sort of formatting. You can after all install any versions of Windows on a modern Mac, thus allowing to use the exact same software for those purposes:

Short of that, your attachment could appear embedded or it could just appear as an attached file depending on the e-mail program your recipient uses. You'd have better luck with a website using HTML 1.1 and referring them to your page on a website link.

I'm not used to Windows Metafile (which, after all, was designed for exchanging information in a Microsoft Windows environment). The above graphics came from Excel on a Mac, and can be pasted into an Apple Mail document. "A Brody" offered you a solution where one is sending information to an end user who has Excel (on either platform), and that end user will be able to manipulate the file. If I understand you correctly - particularly when you mentioned a "pasted object" - it sounds like you want the email recipient to view the object and make sense of it, but not manipulate it or change any data. Using my method, it appears to me that the chart and graph are converted to PDFs when they're inserted into the email. At least I receive them in an email as PDFs.

What do you expect the recipient(s) of your email do be able to do with this pasted object? What's the difference between a "simple column table" and a "nicely formatted table?"
