How do I update my iphone 4s to the ios 7.1 update that is now being offered. I do not have enough storage on my phone due to pictures I am storing and want to keep on my phone. 2 weeks ago, the Apple Support people helped me do this update by using my iMac. The help line, never emailed the instructions on how to do future updates using my iMac. That phone update took one hour. There must be an easier way to accompolish this and future upgrades, using my iMac Thank You

iOS 7.1 update requires approximately 350MB's of storage space.

Tap Settings > General > About > Available to see free storage space.

Very important to never allow the free storage space to fall below at the very least 500MB's or your iPhone may not boot.

You need to free up storage space on your iPhone for future updates as well.

Carolyn, Thank you for the above information. My situation as I stated before was, that I do not want to delete my photos I have stored on my phone. So when I first updated to iO7.0.6, I ended up calling the help line. I did this because my local Apple Store told me that I could use my iMac to upgrade my phone, rather than using the phone alone, which did not have the right storage space.

The help line talked me through the 45 minute process, to get the new upgrade. I had asked him to email the instructions so that I could install new upgrades as they became available. I never got that email.

He did make sure that all my Apple products were backed up to the iCloud and synced. I have an iPod Touch 4, 64 bit, iMac ( new in Dec 2013) ( I am a new Mac user)........ans an iPhone 4s.

So please let me know the procedure using my iMac to upgrade my iPhone 4s to iOS 7.1, and future upgrades. The Apple Help Line call was made on 3/7...#585575975
