GeForce 7800 GT in new Mac Pro

Can this card be installed in a new Mac Pro? This is from my previous G5, and it is a better card. Physically everything is there, but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it. I can't find anything about drivers ... wonder if there is no support for intel macs.

Mac Pro Quad 3.0, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It appears as though no-one is having luck in getting their graphics cards from their PowerMacs to run even though they're PCIe cards. Additionaly, as you suspect, there is no Intel version of the 7800GT driver which would be one of the requirements for it to run.

You might want to call AppleCare and ask them if it is possible. More than likely they'll say no though. :-/

the drivers would be regular nvidia ones, hwoever, the card wont work as it does not have an efi epromm on board

You mentioned something about a efi epromm on board .. is this something new? Sounds like something Apple changes that would make a generic card from CompUSA etc not work.

Just to make sure I understand correctly, this is an apple 7800 GT card, not a generic one. It worked fine in my Quad G5.
