Moving widgets into the Dock

I am using OSX 10.5.8 and would like to add the gmail widget (blue stamp design with a picture of a queen on it) to my bottom dock.

Does anyone know how to do this?

It appears on the screen when I right click my mouse (along with other widgets), but I can't drag it down to the dock. It will move, but just sits on top of the dock and doesn't 'squeeze' itself in.

Thank you for your help. It would just make it easier to see, if it was in the dock, visible all the time.

Dear BD,

Sorry about that. I found it, but did not try to download it. After I received your message, I tried it and got the same message as you.

I then searched for another and found this:

I am not sure how to download this.

By the way, I remembered where the original came from. It is in my widget list which appears when I press the X on the left hand side of the Dock.

Hope this can help.

Dear BD,

In Library/Widgets I have:

Address Book

Business

Dictionary

ESPN

Flight Tracker

Google

iCal.wdgt

iTunes

Movies

People

Ski Report

The above are indicated exactly as stated above in the Library/Widgets.

In addition, when I click on any of the above, a list of the widgets come up as a Dashboard list (Sort by Name), which shows the above and also:

The above 6 also have a red minus ➖ sign on their right side.

Just checking, are you aware there are at least 3 Library folders?

One at root of the drive, one in System at root of the drive, then one in each User's Home folder.

Widgets for everyone woukd be in...

/Library/Widgets/

Widgets installed for one user would be in...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Widgets

Or the shorcut to express that...

~/Library/Widgets

Dear BD,

Thank you. No, I was not aware that there are at least 3 Library folders.

You kindly listed them, but I don't know how to search for them

I'm afraid that, although you have given me a lot of help, this is becoming too complicated.

I think I will just leave it as it is. All it means is that I have to open the Dashboard. Not too much trouble.

Thanks so much for all your assistance.

Best regards,

Susan
