My iPhone 5 is charging but wont turn on even with the hard reset and restore. Keeps showing low battery. HELP PLEASE

Take it to an Apple store. They can test the battery, and replace it if necessary. It sounds like the battery has reached its end of life.

my phone has been charging for 2 days and wont turn on ! 😟

This has happened to me several times and I realized that it always happened when my phone was stone cold. Try unplugging your phone, and then warming up your phone in your hands/with body heat and when you plug it in it should turn back on, well that's what worked for me! Hope this helps!

I have had this problem! I have spoken to my phone technician friends and he has told me how to do it after I have tried everything lol. He told me to take my phone off charge for 10 minutes and then as I put the USB cable back into the charger port, hold down the top "lock button" at the same time! It worked for me :-) Hope this helps!

Either I did it wrong or my phone is just really bad because this method seems to have helped everybody except me😟 once I unplug my phone and wait 10 minutes and I hold the lock button at the same time I plug it back in, it just goes back to that little battery with that red remaining.

Im having the same problem.

My IPhone has been on the charger for atleast 3 hours now and is still showing the low battery icon and not turning on someone pleaseeeee help!😟

my iphone5 keeps restarting for quite sometime. for a day its like more than 10 times. and if it would turn on, the phone keeps getting hotter. and now it came to the point that it does not turn on anymore. i did the sleep/wake button press with home and still did not work. i connected it to my laptop through my usb cable and a message popped up that my phone is in recovery mode. and this already happened to me before. do you it think it has something to do with the hardware, like maybe it needs battery replacement?

try holding both the power button and the home button at the same time to do a really hard reset. btw if u live in a hot climate, the heat might of shorted the battery out, in which case you might need to get the battery replaced.

ive been tried the EllieMAEE's solution,

my iphone 5 (IOS 9.2) wont turn on, i charge my iphone but it wont turn on, (my usb adaptor is cool, theres no heat at all, i assume the electric doesnt trasnfer to the battery).

the screen stays on black.

then, i tried to disconnect the charger for about 10min. then as i connect the charger, i press the power button simultaneously. then, the screen stay on the black with the battery status red.

is there anyone can help me?

I had the same problem. I charged my iPhone 5 for at least 12 hours and it wouldn't start. It said it was charging but it never started. So I unplugged it and put it under my laptop in order to heat up the battery a bit. After 10 minutes I could start it again, even without charging since it actually ad enough power (91%)

Same problem here...it happened within 24 hours of updating to 9.2! I called Apple support and was told to take it to an Apple store. It is absolutely a result of updating from 9.1 to 9.2...100% confident of this.

I have the iPhone 5c and have had problems lately with the battery. It will tell me I have 20% battery and will be on the charger for awhile and not go anywhere. I take it off the charger for like 3 secs to test it and it automatically shuts off and says it needs to be plugged in. Then when I plug it in it still says it's charging but when it goes to turn on it shows he apple logo, vibrates, shuts off again and then does the exact same thing several time. Please help!
