How do I remove Virtualbox from Macbook Pro?

Remove virtual box!

I am having slow issues with Mavericks since I updated. I have plenty of ram. I posted a thread and this person helped me and found virtualbox on my computer. I have never used windows on my computer. I was told by apple store to buy more ram for the slowness of my computer spinning disk when i type or open a program. I think removing virtual box will help but we are having a hard time removing it. After trying a few things he said "VirtualBox is still hanging around, and loading extensions, at this point you need 'hands on' help to remove it, this method isn't working.” Anyone know how to remove virtual box from a mac? Thought I would try one more time! and here is some more info. Thank you so much

Download virtualbox again and run the uninstaller

2.2.2. Uninstallation

To uninstall VirtualBox, open the disk image (dmg) file again and double-click on the uninstall icon contained therein.

Because there is probably not anything wrong with your Mac, except that it could use a bit more Ram.

What is a problem is software, things that seem to have been on your Mac without you putting them there.

That is why I think it is time to erase your Mac and reinstall your applications. Then restore your data from a backup. That way you will know that the software is correct, you'll even know what is on the machine.

VirtualBox is fully compatible with Mavericks, it may be the best Virtual Machine available. If you need Windows on a Mac it's an excellent choice.

Kristen,

At the time you ran that last report, was the Mac running ok? You still have a fair amount of stuff loading, mostly Safari extensions and Internet plugins, but you've gotten rid of the stuff we talked about. You are on the low side of RAM on your machine, which is a fairly simple upgrade. That might be what we need to look at since the garbage stuff is pretty much gone.

Thank you very much! No, my mac is still taking forever to do anything. I get the spinny wheel all the time.. I can just get more memory then if that is all there is left to do. I just don't get what is making so slow 🙂 I went into my safari internet plug ins under preferences and there is only 3 I see. That is crazy. Maybe I will just erae those as well.

The only other thing to try is boot to the Recovery partition. Start up while holding down the Command and R keys. Choose Disk Utility and the repair option. Let's make sure your drive is ok.

Click the Apple icon, the Force Quit. Do you see anything there with Not Responding next to it? What's the name of it? Something came up on this last etrecheck report that wasn't there before.
