Since updating to OS X 10.9.2 MacBook will no longer detect wifi printer-

Since updating to os x mavericks 10.9.2 my macbook pro will no longer detect my hp photosmart c7250 all-in-one printer. I have tried everything i can think of to rectify this problem. From the comments on this board it seems there are many others with similar issues. Does anyone know when apple will be adding a fix for this problem?

Thanks-

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), HP Photosmart C7200 series

Is the printer attached to the computer or via Ethernet/Wi-Fi?

If you haven't already, delete the printer and add it back. You can also try resetting the printing system.

Reset Printing System

HP – Printer Not Found During Wireless Installation

HP – Wireless Printing Center

WiFi Printer to WiFi Network - Connect

Network Printer Troubleshooting

Ping printer: If you have the printers IP address open Terminal applications/Utilities and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure.

The problem is some file missing or corrupted on your Mac. Apple probably won't put out an update just for your Mac. On the other hand, they should make their installers and OS components more reliable! Please leave feedback:

Have you tried the Reset Printing System yet?

Whew!! I finally got everything to work again. Here's what worked for me...

1-I downloaded every update from Apple and HP that I could get my hands on

2-I reset/deleted the printer from my mac (It would work through USB)

3-I reset all to default settings on my printer

4-I turned off/unplugged MacBook, printer, modem, router

5-I crossed my fingers

6-I plugged everything back in and rebooted all

7-I reconnected my printer to my home wifi network - made sure my macbook had reconnected to the correct network

8-Voila!! It's working like a charm!

9-Do happy dance!!

Similar to the folks above, I also had trouble with an HP Photosmart C7280 All-In-One after upgrading to Mavericks. Specifically, the fax printer no longer worked and re-adding the fax printer after resetting the printer system did not help.

With the help of the posts above, I found a link to manually download the ~500Mb "HP Printer Drivers v.2.16.1 for OS-X" Mavericks (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907). For people with other printers, you might have luck finding a suitable download under http://support.apple.com/downloads/#printer

Prior to installing these, up I went into System Preferences -> Print & Scan and right clicked on an existing printer and selected "reset printing system", which removed all existing printers.

I then installed the manually downloaded printer drivers (took ~5-10 minutes).

After installing, in System Preferences -> Print & Scan, I added the fax printer by clicking + and then clikcing "Add printer or scanner...". After a brief wait, the fax printer then appeared in the list of available printers. Finally, I then added back the normal printer/scanner.

Since then, fax and normal printing are working fine.

I hope this can be of help to others,

Cheers, Grum.
