I have a G5 and iBook with PowerPC/iTunes 10....just recently I can't bring up the preset Internet radio on either one. Is this a glitch, or have they been permanently disabled for older versions of iTunes?

You're welcome.

I see that the hosts have brought down the ban hammer on something in this discussion as evidenced by the "branched to a new discussion" blurb at the top of the screen. I don't know if we said something that is inappropriate or incorrect and that is why we incurred their wrath. Maybe there was another post in here since I last responded that was removed.

Very odd to me.... 😕

Thanks Markojay.

In response to your earlier comment, I happen to be a DJ, and have my collection (250G) of music all stored and organized within it. Like you, I won't be leaving iTunes for awhile longer, but as for streaming, I've already found a way to stream some of what I listen to most often outside of iTunes. I visit that station's website, and many now have either free or inexpensive apps for your computer and any device you want to use. I've already been enjoying several of them. Just won't work with Airport Express's, which I use all over my home, as the music isn't coming through iTunes. 😟

I like Demo's suggestions as well, thanks.

May not work for all, but this will see me through for the time being. I'll keep checking in from time to time.

It means a post was removed, usually for violating the Terms of Use of the forums.

The posts aren't simply deleted. They are moved out of the regular forums to someplace only forum mods can get to them.

Apparently I'm allowed to view that other discussion, is that because I'm only "level 1?"

You mean not allowed to view.

No one else is allowed either, (even level 10) except forum moderators (who are Apple employees).

I have the same problem everyone's describing and appreciate the work-arounds. I have an older PowerBook with iTunes 9. The radio function died a couple of days ago. What a loss. I loved the idea of being able to use my computer to be in touch with the world, even stations I might sample for only a couple of minutes. I've gone ahead and found the stations I use regularly at their websites. But it isn't the same, is it? The situation seems as though Apple shut off this access to the outside world on purpose. Isn't that what this thread seems to be saying. Is that correct, that Apple closed the older radio streaming on purpose? On has some part of the system gone down temporarily?

I am experiencing the same problem. The message I receive when trying to access Internet radio via iTunes is:

"An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your Internet connection, or try again later."

My system is Mac OS X 10.5.8, iTunes 10.6.3

This problem has come and gone several times in recent years

I can receive Internet radio by directly entering a URL into iTunes, but can't do anything using the built-in Internet Radio Tuner.

Hey, I've been doing a little experimenting here. In addition to Demo's suggestion, there's also way to get your fav' iTunes Internet Radio stations onto your PowerPC iTunes program. If you have, or have access to, an Intel/MAC or even a PC with iTunes you can transfer the stations through the "Home Sharing" feature. Just create a Playlist folder to transfer the stations to, it works, the stations will play.....hope this helps any PowerPC people who think they lost their Internet Radio forever.

Hi, I'm baaaack

Very happy to get the news about the return of the Internet Radio. It's working for me as well.

Without looking a gift horse in the mouth, does anyone have any way of figuring out what actually happened? I'm always curious about how things work.

But in any case, I'm really happy to have Internet Radio back . . . quite fun listening to some Eastern European movie music channel.

Gratitude to everyone for the tips and ideas.

Best,

Christopher B
