Macbook pro 13" mid 2011 usb port pushed in..

Hi,

My question is concerning my mid 2011 13" Macbook pro. I left my macbook sitting on my coffee table and my phone was on the couch, in between cushions, they were connected via usb, when I came back in the room my macbook was on the floor. I can't say for certain what happened but by the look on my bulldogs face I think she probably ran between the table and couch and caught the cord causing it to fall. Everything is working fine with the exception of my usb ports, after just a minute of using it I had a message appear stating my usb ports had been disabled due to power surge, or something to that nature which caused me to look over at the usb cord still attached to my computer and saw that it was bent, so i unplugged it, looked into the port and realized it was pushed in and it's out of place. Is there any way I can fix this, I don't want to mess things up further, if I can't fix the port will I be able to use the other one, or are they tied in together and both beyond repair?

Thanks

I'm sure it's obvious, but it is the Left USB Port that's damaged

The USB ports are integral with the logic board. This picutre shows the general arrangement and the location of your damaged port:

Apple's official fix is a new logic board that will cost (parts and labor) 50-70 percent of the cost of an new MBP. The only other fix is to find someone who can resolder (reflow) the port assuming its contacts did not break off. Many people doing this kind of work will not guarantee results because of the delicate nature of the parts.

Financially, your best action is no action if the computer otherwise functions properly.

One option may be available if you have homeowners'/renters' insurance: many policies cover accidental damage to your tech stuff. That would cover the cost of repair or replacement, subject to the usual deductible of course.

Thank you both so much for responding. I very much appreciate the photo, I'm a visual person so seeing what it actually looks like in there makes my brain comprehend that trying to mess with it myself would more likely than not result in further damage. The other port is working fine so I'll just cut my losses and leave well enough alone.

THANKS
