Apple TV - Radio Stations

My Apple TV stopped playing radio stations a few days ago. Now all i see is the message "Loading Internet Radio Stations" but nothing happens. My Network is fine, Internet is fine, not sure what's happening. Help please.

I'm repeating myself, but this playlist find is better than sliced bread. A definite good from the bad.

I loved being able to access my content on the Atv with the remote app and not having to turn on the tv to navigate, but hated that the radio was not possible. Just loving that this gives me that ability. Enjoying that ability right now. Maybe I'll spend a little time to discover some more stations now.

Don't want to repeat myself...... but I love MVY Radio. it's under Eclectic stations. There's a nice mix including subdued classic rock, some indie, Jazz sunday mornings, etc etc. You can check their website: mvyradio.com

it's a major listeining source at our house. All the repair guys ask what I am playing. Not much adverstising since it is listener supported radio (though free unless you wish to donate)

Mitchys,

You're not doing anything wrong. Several have reported that it works for them, though I've never had anyone answer my questions about how it really functionally works.

Some say the "Internet Radio" playlist shows up under your "Shared" lib, and others say it shows up under Internet/Radio on the home screen of the 1st gen. ATV.

I can create such a list, and it is working while on my iMac, but is not available on my ATV. Coincidentally, it is available to me as a Playlist on my iPhone in the "Remote" App.

I've noticed over the weekend that Apple seems to be continuing to reduce the functionality of the 1st gen. ATV. There used to be 4-5 entries under each of the ATV home menus, but now I only have two. MyATV and Shared.

I have no problem buying a new $99 ATV, but that's just the beginning of getting where I was. I'm told I'll need to spend $5-$8000 for an 8 channel A/V matrix switcher, as it no longer has an option of component output, but requires HDMI.

Further, that's really only a small part of my problem as the new ATV supports HDCP copy protection, which in my case means that a simple and inexpensive solution in the form of a $1250 HDMI to component converter won't work.

I sure hope they really do what several of us have heard from our respective Apple Support people at different levels, and they really do have plans on fixing it. So far all I see is a further reduction in available services.

Thanks George,

I can't see why it should appear under Radio Station categories, especially as the station I want doesn't appear to be one which fits under the new look radio station categories. Later I might try to create a new playlist from one of my wife's CD's and see if this appears in the Playlist of the Shared Music on the ATV.

With all that's gone on, I'm half thinkng about getting a tower, putting my movie TB HDD's in there and running Windows XP Media Centre.

UPDATE

I still have no Internet Radio on either a Playlist saved in the iTunes lib from which the ATV syncs, or in what used to be a top level menu item, "Internet Radio."

I reported a couple days ago that I'd also noticed over the weekend that I'd lost several other main menu items that I never used.

Well, tonight I found my ATV had crashed and was asking me if it was OK to send the diagnostic report to Apple which I surly did, but upon reboot and reloading my lib, I now again at least have all the missing items that I still don't use. To me, this says Apple is working on it. They have the ability to run diagnostics just as much as I do (And I have and passed)

Something happened tonight to straighten out some of the problem. I assure you I have rebooted more than once in my testing, and this never has happened in four years.

Maybe there IS hope.

I was able to successfully get my one radio station (Martini in the Morning in Golden Oldies) on the playlist & synced to my 1st Generation Apple TV, using the method discussed very early in the thread.

I sent a feedback bug issue report both for the Apple TV & iTunes, as I feel it should get both of those divisions working on it, perhaps blaming the other, but ultimately to get it fixed.

Update.

I was nicely surprised this morning when i tried to connect to the radio on my aTV2 and it actually connected!! ye ha! I have been trying every day since the problem was reported with no luck and was beginning to think that Apple was not going to fix the problem but now I am very greatful that they seem to of addressed the issue. Hope you all get your radio functions back too.

happy listening all
