Ok I found a way around this. If you create a Connect Account you have to pay Apple for it. However, if you download the APP "File Browser" and add your laptop, tower on your home network you have a few advantages. First you can browse and cross share any share files you set up as you do on any network, plus you can connect your iPad or Phone to your laptop or tower and sync your iTunes library for free. No monthly fees. The APP comes with an iTunes sync option.

NOTE: Read manual on File Broweer .... While you can cross share any file from any share folder to folder, you must connect your device to your tower or lap inorder to use the iTunes sync function ....

I had the same problem as the rest of you, here is the answer,

I also receieved an email from apple (iTunes Store <do_not_reply@apple.com>) here,

Dear xxxxx,

You have successfully created an iTunes Connect Free Books Account. To complete the process, activate your account.

After you've activated your account, go to the Deliver Your Content module, download iTunes Producer (requires Mac OS X v10.6 or later), and follow the instructions to submit your book to iBooks.

A copy of your contract is attached to this email for your reference.

Regards,

The iBooks team

After downloading iBooks Author I could not complete the log in process within the App either,

I therefore did a little research and logged an issue with ibooks_applicationsupport@apple.com noting the same error message as the rest of the thread, although I could also have called 0800 975 0615 to achieve the same outcome.

I received the following email,

Hello xxxxx,

Thank you for contacting iBooks Publisher Support regarding iTunes Connect.

We reissued your invitation to iTunes Connect. Please check your email for this notice. If you do not find this notice in your inbox, we suggest checking your spam filters. You'll be able to click through this email to sign in to your new Books account and complete the contract process.

If you need further assistance with signing in to iTunes Connect to activate your Books account, please reply to this email or call us directly at 0800 975 0615. Support hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific standard time, Monday through Friday.

Best regards,

Julie

iTunes Provider Support

This then triggered the missing email from apple (iTunes Store <do_not_reply@apple.com>) here,

Dear xxxxx,

Your application to distribute Free Book content on the iTunes Store has been approved. Next steps include agreeing to contracts and delivering your content. Visit iTunes Connect to set up your account or sign in to get started.

Regards,

The iTunes Store Team

I could then then log into this site,

https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wo/4.0

To then click on "Deliver Your Content" and jump to the download link,

https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wo/6.0.15.25.0.0.1. 3

Where you can download,

iBooks Author

iTunes Producer 3.0 (or 2.9.3 as I did)

iBook Proofer 1.0.1

Featured Resources

Additional Resources

I then downloaded "iTunes Producer" and "Book Proofer"

And signed into iTunes Connect in "iTunes Producer"

And then signed into iTunes Connect in "iBooks Author"

(I must admit that I did have to quit iBooks and re-launch it to get this part to work whereupon the App no longer prompted to download iTunes Producer and logged straight in to iTunes Connect).

Hope that helps everyone. 😝

I received the same error message after going to https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wa/apply and following the blue prompt button in the lower right corner that says "Continue" that takes me to the login page for iTunes Connect and entering my regular iTunes username and password. I am trying to create an iTunes Connect account that will allow me to sell my podcasts on iTunes. I correctly selected the word "podcasts" from the drop-down box under (Select the content type you are applying to distribute) to get to the right page.

If we need to create a separate account, as opposed to just linking our regular iTunes ID to the new add-on, there should be a mention of that on the page, rather than just asking us to login in with our Apple ID, which seems very straight-forward. When receiving the error that says "Your Apple ID isn't enabled for iTunes Connect", one would think that there would be a link somewhere on the page to actually create that new account for iTunes Connect. The only link on the page is to go back to the "Get Started" page, which just puts me in an endless loop with 3 options (Media, Developers & Books). Where is the link for podcasts? There is no link for it under the "Media" category--only links to music, movies & TV shows are there.

So the question still remains, what page do I go to for creating an account to sell iTunes podcasts on iTunes?

Oddly, when I went to another area (creating widgets for podcasts), when I created a widget, the message box asks me to select "books' from the drop-down box, rather than podcasts, which I am in a podcast area. Very strange. I suppose it is a bug.

Well, I'm going on a 'get started'. Fill in the name, surname, apple id etc. .. on the next page fills the legal entity name, USTax ID, etc. all fill out and confirm it

--->>>

The Following Error (s) occurred:

"An entity with the U.S. Tax ID you entered already has an account to distribute Music on the iTunes Store. If you also want that account to distribute Music, an existing Admin or Legal user must use their iTunes Connect account to sign in here."

Cant login to the account and not create new, because the U.S. Tax ID is already in use. How do you help me?

If you read my post above, to see the problem I was having you can see if/how it relates to your issue. I solved my problem (trying to create a podcast), by not using "iTunes Connect" at all.It mentions podcasts in the drop-down list, but you don't need or use iTunes Connect at all, to make and distribute podcasts on iTunes. So basically, I was in the wrong area. There were several things that led me to be in the wrong area, and having 'podcasts' in the list on the page didn't help. .
