Customer Service...Apple Store Bullring, UK

I hope someone can help me out.

I handed in a Powerbook for a memory slot extension repair programme at Apple Store Bullring (Birmingham UK) on Sunday. I explained that I didn't live locally and would need it to be shipped back to me.

Today, someone leaves me a message on my phone saying that they would see me in store!

I've been trying to phone them (0121 260 1900) for OVER 2 HOURS and no one has picked up the phone. They have not replied to an email I sent to them earlier today as well.

This is so frustrating. I need that Powerbook desperately to work with.

I can't believe this is the sort of customer service level that Apple has!!!

Got Customer Relations to escalate my case last night and they called me back after lunch. They apologised that it was a busy retail store although not picking up the phone for over 2 hours is unacceptable.

They also lost the original address where it's to be mailed to. I can't believe how bad Apple CS is. Won't be touching them with a bargepole ever again.

It sounds like once you go through on a different number that things improved for you. Apple CS is rated (by the consumers) as one of the best around. I agree that this does not give an employee the excuse to lose your return address.

Remember that it was one person that messed up- not the entire company - bad hair day, new trainee, hung over, hmmmmm....I suppose that we have all been there once in our life.

And in a perfect world .......
