i am constantly copyting urls in the address bar, and have to click three times because it offers me to 'cusomize' the address bar, and also justr deselects the url again at least once.
I dont use share buttons which have trackers in them rather use direct url typing
As to the loading problem, where Safari wont load a page and hangs, but then suddenly loads when you click on the address bar, is to do with i believe AJAX scripts and Java script timeouts, which a lot of new websites use and which safari is really not able to deal with it seems
My online store ecommerce solution (ecwid) is a big problem to load in Safari, and many similar sites are also difficult to load and only load if i click on the address bar
As to the comments her from people about it being to do with plugins and addns, it isnt because im a bare bones person who uses apple built in apps but no third party plugins. I dont even use photoshop to edit images much as the preview app does it,
most apple apps have many more tools and more power than people know, and so i dont clog my machine up with plugins. Safari on my Mac has no plugins, nor do i have adobe flash, or pepper flash installed.
The problem is Safari power saving setting which are not accessible t0 users, and which are a large part of the safari style of approach (deactivate plugins etc to make page load faster.. like 'kill all the media make it a boring page.., so safari looks fast'
In truth, Safari is not faster, it is just switching off functionality, to appear faster, and deprecates itself with many websites in the process. I arrive at many newly updated sites (such as youtube and facebook) and cannot get many things to fucntion, because Safari isnt equipped to handle it
Many signup forms using java and AJAX wont work using Safari (the buttons wont press and upload dialogues wont work)
Many interface buttons will be invisible in safari, but not in other browsers. Many sites i arrive at say 'this browser is not supported please get an up to date browser.
Its a shame because i like to use Safari due to it working with text replacement shortcuts, and also with Siri to speak and let it type for me (firefox doesnt work with Siri or text replacement)
But Safari is becoming ever more deprecated
The thing i hate though which is nothing to do with deprecation, is the topic of this post, namely why on earth do i have to click 3 times on the url bar just to select the url and copy it to go paste into Facebook or wherever
As i said, i dont support certain trends such as link tracking in social sharing plugins, because i dont believe stat gathering reflects reality, and i believe stats are what make new trending in internet marketing techniques, and that all the millions of people and companies following those marketiing trends, thibnk they are getting results, when in truth, its just stats that paint a picture through a certain lens.. My stats say Facebook brings 1600 people this month to my checkout basket in my store.. but i still sold the same as i sell in any month, despite 1600 people from facebook in my checkout.. which shows that the stats are not accurate.. and so, i cant select a url because safari thinks i want to customise the url bar, and doesnt know i want to select copy and paste the url
Also they dont encourage this and thats why too!
Because they want us to use the share dialogue, to track social sharing
But as i said i dont do that,
If anyone wants my user habits, then pay for it.
The modern web is basically one big data miner
