Odd Text Distortion in FCPX

Hey All,

Been receontly been having an issue with text effects being oddly distorted in Final Cut X. Happens randomly in all projects in different libraries. Sometimes if I delete the effect and re-do it, it fixes itself... sometimes if I shut down FCPX and restart it fixes itself... preference delete sometimes helps... but it always seems to come back, and not always in the same instance of the text effect.

Anyone else been seeing this issue? Here's a screenshot... notice how the text looks in the upper right corner of the viewer...

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Final Cut X, Final Cut 7

Hi Raj,

Try taking Magic Bullet looks off your computer altogether. Then delete any render files you have in that event/project. - better still, create a new project. Then closedown FCPX. Restart your computer and try again. If you could do this and let me know the result I would be very grateful.

Hi Ray,

Thank you for your suggestion - I took the other step of updating to Magic Bullet 2.5, deleted the corrupted text and applied new text. Appears to be working fine in both un-rendered and rendered form. I'd say your hunch was right.

Thanks Raj.

But you reinstalled MBL? I'm currently running my system without MBL installed.. I uninstalled it totally. So far, I have been unable to recreate the distortion. As you have it installed, it will be interesting to see if either of us get this problem.

Hi Ray,

I didn't uninstall MBL 2.1.4, just updated to 2.5 to open within the app. Did another quick test with text - unrendered MBL and everything seems to working fine. The stand alone MBL 2.1.4 is still living in my apps folder but it doesn't appear to be interfering with anything.

MBL 2.5 seems to have fixed the Text distortion (have only tested for a few hours so far) but has unfortuantely thrown up a new worse problem. FCPX now crashes when editing effects within MBL plugin. I can get it to crash every time! I did see a workaround somewhere.. but I dont want workarounds!

Hi, i've spotted the same problem and effectively it was linked to Magic Bullet. I've the 2.1.4 installed, but i don't see any update to 2.5 that could fix my problem.

EDIT : on another computer i've a older version 2.0.9 and there are not text bug.
