My LG Tone Pro (HBS-750) is too loud, even with all of the volume options turned down.

Hello!

I just received my Tone Pro (HBS-750) headphones and they are entirely too loud. I have the volume on the phone down to almost silent and keep pressing volume down on the headset itself and its still hurting my ears.

Is anyone else having an issue with this? Is there a fix?

I was using the Tone 730 and they were working fine.

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1

I tried them. Just got generic responses.

I also just tried connecting it to an Android device, it worked fine on there. The volume was at normal levels. I connected it to my iPad and had the same result as the phone, too loud.

I am thinking this might be an iOS issue, I have read other people are having Bluetooth issues since 7.1, but I haven't seen the exact one I am having.

One thing to note here is that if the device works fine with the accessories manufactured by Apple, then Apple probably isn't going to change anything.

These third party companys come out with headphones, cases, etc. and guarantee them to work with certain core products, and if it doesn't, then you have to take it up with those who made the promise.

This is like getting mad at Apple if a LifeProof case isn't waterproof when you try to go swimming with it, or getting mad at Dell computers because your World of Warcraft mouse it's working.

You all should take your concerns to LG's discussion boards or support venues and let them fix it, afterall, they are the one who promises on their pages that it works with Apple iPhones.

Good luck!

Hi all,

As a recent consumer of this product, this issue has the potential of becoming a safety issue (think: hearing loss associated with using these products). I too am experiencing this volume issue and have had a chance to test the LG HBS-750s across different Apple products.

Here is what was observed:

1. When paired to my iPod Nano v1.0.3 Mac; model MD481LL - I can control the low volume level to very acceptable low levels.

2. When paired to my MacBook Air OSX 10.9.2 - I can control the low volume level to very acceptable low levels.

3. When paired to my iPhone 5 version 7.1.1 (11D201); model NE486LL/A - the volume at the lowest level is very loud and unlistenable.

Given this cross-product test using all Apple products as the sound's source, it really is (in my opinion) not an LG issue but more isolated to asking Apple to help update the iPhone 5 software to more finely control the lowest volume level for Bluetooth headsets.

One way or another, hopefully this get resolved.

I have had the same issue as others who are suffering with the volume being too loud to listen to comfortably. Below is the results from testing competitive hardware against Apple and the results that I have seen.

Comfortable listening level:

Windows Phone 8X

Nokia Lumia 925

OnePlus One

Uncomfortable listening level:

iPad 3 (iOS 8)

iPhone 6 (iOS 8)

I have spoken with both LG and Apple support regarding this issue. On the Apple side, they are escalating the issue to Apple engineers. Lg has reporteed numerous people having issues post-iOS 8 being released.

Some updates...

Actually, I am using LG HBS-730 rather than HBS-750 model, and I am having the same problem. I assume this type of "volume-control" problem applies to all models that LG bluetooth stereo headsets have released.

Below are the devices that I have tried with HBS-730 model...

Laptop:

MacBook Air 13' (released Summer 2013)

-> Works fine. I wish all the other iOS devices work like the MacBook devices.. Although I have not tried my LG

Smartphones:

Samsung Galaxy S3 with KitKat 4.4.2 version

-> Works fine. I wish my iPhone 6 works like my previous Galaxy S3 with LG headset!!!

iPhone 3GS with iOS 6.1.6 version

-> Too loud even with the lowest setting on the volume..

iPhone 4 with iOS 8.1 version

-> Too loud..

iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1.2 version

-> Too loud..

iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1 version

-> Too loud..

Tablet:

iPad Retina display with iOS 8.1 version

-> Too loud..

Sooooo... any iOS devices (iPhones and iPads) have an issue with volume control when using LG HBS-730. I believe same goes for HBS-750.

I wonder whether either LG or Apple will tackle this problem at all... 😟

Just wanted to add my $0.02 that I've had the same problem.

I originally purchased a set of HBS-730 headphones that I later learned were knockoffs. Those original headphones, while knockoffs, were great. There were a few issues where it would pair a bit too loudly, but never had an issue listening to music. Was not good for phone calls, though.

I purchased an OEM HBS-730 approximately 2 months ago, and have had the loudness issue, but only with music. Not with phone calls.

I have the following:

iPhone 5

iPad 4

iPod Touch 4g

HP Touchpad running Android

Motorola Droid RAZR M

The headphones work perfectly with the Android devices. They have been too loud with the Apple devices (have not yet tested with my wife's Macbook Pro), but volume has been perfect on phone calls with my iPhone.

I talked with an LG rep as well, and she told me "If the headphones are working fine on the Android products, but not the Apple products, it is not an LG issue, but an Apple issue.
